Inspiration

Many people lack awareness about how to conserve and reuse water, a critical skill in today’s world. This gap in understanding is contributing to the growing issue of water waste globally. It’s more important than ever to take action and make water conservation a priority for the health of our planet and future generations.

What it does

AquaFriend is an AI-powered assistant designed to tackle all water-related topics, from conservation to reuse. It helps save both money and the planet, making water management smarter and more efficient.

How we built it

AquaFriend was built using LangChain, and can search through large documents to find specific information and then use ChatGPT-4 to provide clear and concise answers. AquaFriend stands out by combining knowledge from open research papers, journals, and state programs with the speed and responsiveness of ChatGPT-4. This powerful combination not only helps people discover innovative water-saving techniques they may not have known before but also educates users on the importance of water conservation.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we faced during training our agent was ensuring that the answers were both accurate and easy for everyone to understand. Balancing precision with simplicity was key to making the information accessible to all.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud to have developed an AI agent that can genuinely make a difference by helping people make small, impactful changes in their daily lives. It focuses on addressing non-sustainable habits and promoting more eco-friendly choices.

What we learned

I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the limitations and uses of API keys, as well as how to leverage LangChain to create meaningful impact. By applying these tools, I’m not only making a difference in my local community but also contributing to positive change on a national level.

What's next for AquaFriend

Our goal is for AquaFriend to become a water intelligent AI agent across the U.S. Currently, it provides basic water-related information, but our next step is to enhance its capabilities to deliver more accurate and relevant insights to users nationwide.
