Inspiration
We were inspired by an issue that we, and many UCI students experience in student life. Every time there is a club event off campus, Google Forms are sent out, petitioning members to drive, and asking other members if they require a ride. We sought out to streamline the process with our app AntStopWontStop.
What it does
The app first requires users to login, filling in their username and email before either joining a ride, or creating one.
How we built it
We built this website with a backend programmed with Python using Flask API. Our frontend is coded using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest issue we encountered when creating our web app was likely our lack of experience in this type of project building. As none of us were proficient in web-development, it was very difficult to read through the documentation and implement the features we wanted in only 12 hours.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud that we actually completed a functional project especially with virtually no AI assistance, with the exception of a few bugs.
What we learned
We gained much experience in working with web development technologies that we never have worked with before. We also learned how to ideate and create feasible ideas with the assistance of our mentor.
What's next for AntStopWontStop
In the future we will implement a database for AntStopWontStop and attempt to use more sophisticated frontend elements through React.
