Inspiration
When we made our team, one person did not watch anime and wanted recommendations. And boom! The idea was born.
What it does
Using a user's anilist account, they can get anime recommendations at a push of a button.
How we built it
We used Python as our main language for the project and used the aniList API to get the data for our algorithm. We then used streamlit to make the front end.
Challenges we ran into
The aniList API used GraphQL which none of us were familiar with which lent to a steep learning curve for the group.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to finish our main idea of the project in such a little amount of time and how much we learned throughout the project, especially topics we would not have covered in classes.
What we learned
Some of our team had never used Python before and now they know how to do requests and minimal front-end with it. As well, we learned more about APIs and how they can be useful to us.
What's next for aniMate
Better algorithm that takes a more personal approach and works for non-anilist users, and establishing a better front-end that we originally had planned for
