Amazon Packing Buddy was inspired by the potential for small business owners to save time and money when shipping products to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. This web app can be used across a multitude of devices and leverages the photo-taking capabilities to scan barcodes and upload to the cloud. It was created using popular web frameworks and open-source libraries, including Flask and Python for backend services, JavaScript for the frontend user interface, Quagga.js for processing barcodes, and more. Building the barcode functionality to enable rapid product identification was one of many challenges faced during development. Our team is tremendously proud of solving this business problem and had the opportunity to explore the diverse services that can be integrated into a single solution. Amazon Packing Buddy has major potential to expand its features and further integrate with Amazon Merchant Web Services to become a multi-tenant application for small businesses with similar needs.
