Inspiration Our heart for our community. We are only as strong as our weakest link. As Houston prepeares for the World Cup, the homeless population has become the focus, but there have been no sustainable solutions or preventative measures addressed.

What it does takes a look at one area of the city and applies innovation and modern approach to identify the true root of the crisis and how our community can prevent more people from becoming homeless.

How we built it is by receiving insight from several Houston residents including those who work directly with the unhoused community. Their feedback was invaluable.

Challenges we ran into were the latest 2025 is set to be released two days after submitting our pitch deck, which could have provided greater data for our pitch. And most believe housing/funding is the solution, while it is only a part of the solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of, the team who came together and unofficial team members who contributed all brought diverse perspectives and insight that helped us get a clear picture of the true challenges needing to be addressed.

What we learned while homelessness in general is overwhelming, by looking at the Midtown community surrounding Ion District, we can began there and apply innovative practices to a humanitarian issue. There are so many organizations who provide aid and assist the homeless, Ion District is perfectly located to engage and apply innovative strategies toward sustainable impact and resolution.

What's next for Altruism Project we will continue learning and following how local and state governments approach the homeless crisis, while continuously advocating for sustainable imact with a focus on empathy for the humanity of our city.
