All-For-One

Inspiration

So I spent pretty much the first couple hours of RU Hacks setting up Flutter and thinking about what to build. Without an idea I decided to checkout the Twitch stream in the meantime and came across the Harm Reduction presentation. Being personally interested in the psychology behind drug use I found the presentation to be very interesting and it inspired by to work on the Harm Reduction challenge.

What it does

The app has two major screens. The first screen shows current stats about overdoses in Ontario, along with context about overdose in general. The second page provides info about how to spot someone overdoses and how you can help them.

How I built it

Flutter and Dart.

Challenges I ran into

Trying to setup Flutter took much longer than I anticipated, and trying to learn the framework (along with mobile development) took some time. There was also the interesting part of making a great looking UI.

What I learned

I was able to improve my individual project development skills which includes pre-planning and focus on incremental development for the minimum viable product. In terms of technical skills I was able to learn mobile development for the first time through Flutter and Dart.

What's next for All-For-One

Instead of putting everything into two main screens I would like to split it up among more screens to make it more organized. I would also like to add some contact info for additional services for people to reference, along with more info (such as the Good Samaritan Act etc) to encourage people taking the overdoses of others more seriously.
