Inspiration

AITrainsYou.com is an AI powered EdTech platform. It was originally built using Anthropic Claude in a 24 hour hackathon sponsored by AWS for Denver Startup Week(2nd place winner). We decided to significantly expand the product and build it out for Okta integration. Our goal in building this was to help organizations learn faster and adapt to the AI age.

Our experience is that AI is an excellent teacher but it can be hard to use correctly. By making AI course creation easy, we empower people to share knowledge within their organization and with the wider world.

My cofounder and I are both engineers and have consulted for a YC-backed EdTech company in the past.

What it does

Uses AI to help people become course creators and course consumers. By bringing the cost of course creation down we can quickly create ways to share knowledge inside organizations. From learning how to effectively handle customer support, sales, and engineering, to compliance with detailed regulation, AITrainsYou.com can help anyone learn anything.

How we built it

Our tech stack is: Anthropic Claude through Amazon Bedrock, python, flask, couchdb, docker, terraform, ec2(t4g arm64), route53 On the frontend we use: htmx, tailwind.css, fontawesome

We used AITrainsYou.com to ideate and refine the product vision while using ChatGPT4 to accelerate development.

Challenges we ran into

  • SCIM is a complex protocol. We were able to use ChatGPT to generate a large amount of tests which really helped.
  • There is a lot we wanted to add but had to cut it down to fit in the time constraints.
  • Cutting down the video to 3 minutes was difficult - we had to cut a lot of the content to make it short enough.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Heavy use of AI throughout the project, including using the product to overcome obstacles
  • Anthropic Claude course creation and automated quizes
  • Custom Okta SCIM integration using Couchdb with lots of tests
  • Okta OIDC integration
  • Users/Groups/Permissions system
  • Deployment automation and terraformed infrastructure

What we learned

AI is great at teaching! When we encounter roadblock we use AITrainsYou.com to learn how to overcome it. Additionally we learned:

  • How to use AITrainsYou.com to create relevant courses, such as how to create a video presentation, how to focus during a longer hackathon, and more.
  • Specific technologies used to implement such as terraform and tailwind
  • Effective use of ChatGPT4 for generating test cases, devops, and helping with UX

What's next for AITrainsYou.com

We are planning to recruit the first users, get valuable feedback, and iterate. The goal is to onboard alpha users and small-medium businesses organizations using Okta and help them spread intelligence through their organization.
