Inspiration

Our inspiration for our project was the multiple wildfires happening in California recently. There was a huge problem with smoke not only in our community but all over. The air quality was creating a really big issue especially for people with breathing problems such as asthma. We decided to do something about this issue.

What it does

Our app has a map that queries real time data to display the air quality of different zip codes. It also notifies the user every time the air quality index changes for their location.

How I built it

We used XCode and Swift

What's next for Airflow

We plan on integrating AI to give notifications about how much someone was exposed to smoke or bad air quality.

I worked on parsing the JSON file so the MapView could display the air quality based on the zip code. This part was difficult because while I have parsed hard coded data, I've never worked much with querying real time data from a government source. I was really proud of myself of getting that to work. I also worked on the notifications.

I worked on the forecast and a small part of the map. I used
ListView to make the cities and their air quality sections. I used the MapView to display the map of the current location.
