π Inspiration
Air pollution is an invisible threat impacting billions every day π«οΈ. We wanted to build something that empowers people β especially those with health conditions β to make smarter, safer choices. Thatβs how AirAble was born: to turn complex air data into clear, personalized health insights. ππ«
π‘ What it does
AirAble is an AI-powered environmental health assistant π€π¨. It provides:
- Real-time AQI data π‘
- Personalized health tips based on user profile π§
- Cleanest route suggestions πΊοΈ
- Alerts for high pollution or allergy risks π¨ All wrapped in a clean, intuitive interface π¨π±.
π οΈ How we built it
We used:
- OpenWeatherMap API for real-time AQI and weather data
- TomTom API for clean route suggestions
- Python (backend) for logic and health analysis
- Streamlit / React Native for the front end
- Firebase for user data and authentication
𧱠Challenges we ran into
- Handling inconsistent AQI data from various regions π
- Integrating real-time maps with pollution overlays
- Balancing personalization with simplicity in the UI
π Accomplishments we're proud of
- Built a working prototype with live air and health tracking
- Integrated multi-API data for a real-time experience
- Designed a user-friendly interface with accessibility in mind
π What we learned
- How to work with geospatial and environmental APIs
- Importance of UX in health-focused apps
- Handling real-time data and edge cases with dynamic responses
π Whatβs next for AirAble
- Add allergy-specific alerts and weather-triggered notifications
- Implement machine learning for behavior prediction
- Launch on mobile stores and gather real-world feedback
- Partner with health orgs to expand impact π±
