AI Instagram Caption Generator

Inspiration

Instagram is one of the most used social media apps in the world and is essential for influencers to stay connected with their followers. Captions are most important part of an instagram post and posts having a caption get better reach. To help solve this problem and reduce the creative energy spent by influencers on this important task we created the AI Instagram Caption Generator.

What it does

When provided a picture as an input, with the help of our machine learning model, it suggests a caption for the instagram post.

What we learned

We learned how to make use of flask for creating an API and connecting it to a machine learning model.

What's next for AI Instagram Caption Generator

Update the machine learning model to get more accurate captions.

I worked on the backend, specifically on the model and API components. For the model, I went with a CNN + LTSM approach where the CNN would basically produce features of the image, and based on the captions that typically correspond with those features, our LTSM would predict the rest of the caption. I was also responsible for implementing the dataflow between our front and backend through the REST API

I worked on part of the front end. This was my first time doing HTML with CSS style. It was a challenge for me to get the syntax to work properly. Overall this was an amazing learning experience and I can't wait to improve for next time.
