The future of work is rapidly evolving, yet millions of students and young professionals struggle with unclear career paths, skill gaps, and limited access to personalized guidance. Traditional career counseling is expensive, outdated, and not scalable. We were inspired to build AI Career Copilot to ensure every learner has access to a mentor that adapts with them — making career growth more personalized, accessible, and future-ready.

What it does

AI Career Copilot is an intelligent career mentor that:

  • Generates personalized career roadmaps based on user skills, interests, and goals.
  • Identifies skill gaps and creates micro-learning tasks to close them.
  • Provides AI-powered mock interviews (technical + behavioral) with instant feedback.
  • Builds tailored resumes and cover letters optimized for each career path.
  • (Optional integration) Pulls real-time job market data from LinkedIn/Indeed APIs to align training with demand.

With AI Career Copilot, every student can have a career advisor in their pocket, helping them navigate the ever-changing job market.

How we built it

  • Frontend: HTML5, TailwindCSS, Vue.js (for a modern, responsive UI)
  • Backend: Node.js with Express + REST APIs
  • AI/ML: OpenAI API for natural language career guidance, HuggingFace models for resume/interview generation
  • Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL) for secure and scalable data storage
  • Extras: Chart.js for career progress dashboards, job data API integration for market insights

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing AI prompts that deliver personalized yet realistic career paths.
  • Ensuring fairness and inclusivity so the AI does not bias towards only tech careers.
  • Integrating job market data into a lightweight demo within the hackathon timeframe.
  • Balancing user-friendliness with depth of insights.
