Inspiration
Nutrients (NPK) is one of the greatest contributors to increasing crop yield. Combined with its relative low cost and high potential return, farmers are inclined to over apply the nutrients or under apply nutrients to their fields which leads to non optimal crop yield and investment returns.
What it does
We solve this by optimally matching soil nutrient requirements to site-specific conditions patially throughout the field and the geometry location as well as the weather conditions. Therefore intra-field soil variability can be managed as well as seasonal fluctuations in weather using computer modelling. We also identify plant diseases based on images of leaves.
How we built it
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges with sending push notifications to multiple users. We fixed it with additional effort. We ran into challenges of scarcity of datasets for training an efficient Machine Learning model for our requirements.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We got an end to end pipeline working! In a short span of 30 hours we got the following features completed :
- An android app for moisture, fertilizer , light intensity monitoring. The app is also capable of receiving notifications when each of the factors in plant health
- A visualization dashboard. The dashboard shows the sensor values in real-time for plant health monitoring.
- A machine learning based plant disease identification system.
- Integrated Google assistant into the agriot stack. The system is capable of receiving queries from end users and providing response accordingly. ## What we learned We learned :
- Increased domain knowledge about challenges and problems in agriculture.
- Google Assistant integration
What's next for Agriot
Future work for Agriot:
- Integrate suggestions for crop production based on factors such as season, market prices, land available etc for maximal yield.
