Inspiration
The inspiration behind my project was the decision made yesterday by SCOTUS. My original topic was going to be based on AI, Algorithms, and how they affect teens today but after hearing the decision my mind cared more about educating people on the topic of college admissions and affirmative action as my social media timeline was flooded with tons of misinformation and opinions that could spread to people who don't know much about the process. Affirmative action has been contraversial for years and I wanted to demystify the process by creating a website that would give a user all the info they need to know from **trusted** sources.
What it does
My website shows you videos and a timeline of affirmative action in America. It also has some common misconceptions about the process.
How we built it
I built it with replit and broke it down into html then customized it with CSS.
Challenges we ran into
I ran into some problems with the timeline and customizing the page because I didn't build a wireframe that was representative of my skills so I had to tone it down and pivot many times.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am really proud of all the research I've done for the website in such little time. I think it made me feel more confident in my ability to explain to others why affirmative action matters.
What we learned
What's next for Affirmative Action in America?
Updating and maintaining the website so that way I can share it with more people around America so we can make sure we keep diversity alive in institutions of higher learning.
