Inspiration
Plan your dream vacation with ease using our one-stop travel planner website. Our travel planner website makes planning your next trip easy and stress-free.
What it does
The user enters their location and their desired destination. We help them plan their perfect trip by providing them with the top-rated locations to visit with a map and a custom 3-Day Itinerary.
How we built it
This full-stack application was built using HTML and bootstrap.css for the front end and using flask for the backend. we used 3 APIs in this project, google maps, yelp and gpt-3. we started by separating the tasks and API calls to separate webpages then at the end brought them all together into one.
Challenges we ran into
POST and GET HTTP requests were the largest challenges for this challenge. Separately, frontend and backend tasks can be completed rather easily but combining them and having both sides exchange information was significantly harder
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully getting an implementation of google maps into a webpage with a working route system including flights, even though it is not officially supported by google maps API. successfully parsing through yelp reviews to return only high-rated tourist attractions to the relevant areas. getting all 3 of our APIs to work together to solve tasks
What we learned
We learned about how frontend and backend technologies interact and how different APIs interact
What's next for Bon Voyage?
After all the work, we were not able to solve one of our problems in time even after we were able to access the data for it so our next target would be to complete the task and also work to improve the UI/UX.
