Inspiration

Mental Health was already a big issue before Covid-19 hit the world. Now the pandemic with no end in sight, has caused an alarming number of mental health related problems for people in their daily lives. The inspiration behind our pitch is an app, which is aimed at providing tasks to people so that they can stay engaged thus allowing them stay motivated and active throughout the day.

What it does

Actify takes input from users through a simple survey and provides two ways to chose or find a task that he/she can do to have a more active and relaxing time. The user are asked to fill out the survey and if the user does not have ideas for their daily tasks, the app will generate random tasks based on the user's response on the survey, then our app uses an algorithm to match tasks based on user input for him/her to complete. The user has an option to create their list of tasks that he/she would like to do throughout the day. The unique thing of our app is the daily tasks will be shuffled randomly for each day, thus the user will not know what tasks they will do for the day.

How we built it

We designed the application Actify using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

Becoming accustomed to designing for the first time ever. Since some of the members in our group were new to Figma, we do have challenges such as designing, doing overlay and learning to use Figma within 24 hours.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our ability to learn Figma within a short amount of time, given that most of the members in the group are new to Figma. We are proud of building an application that solves a crucial problem majority of the people are battling right now across the world. Moreover, we are proud of our collaboration in making Actify and our ability to adapt to obstacles. Lastly, our combined effort in making an effective UX design is something that we are proud of.

What we learned

We learned about the process of designing and creating a prototype. This allowed us to improve our UI/UX skills. We gained a lot of insight about the design aspect of an application and the importance of visually aesthetic app features. We learned how to efficiently work as a team with students from different backgrounds by capitalizing on individual strengths.

What's next for Actify

We plan on implementing more features and create it into a full-stack app. The next step is to get our application and the message behind it to the public. To do this, Actify will improve on the current marketing strategies by improving our current platforms. We will focus on creating a strong marketing. In the future Actify will conduct extensive research regarding user experience in order to develop innovative features which are beneficial for our users. Lastly, we will be looking into partnering with organizations that have a similar goal and will mutually benefit both parties. We hope to grow the success of Actify by increasing our recurring users and continuously improving the quality of our application.
