Inspiration:

At times we as students struggle with tests and projects and need help from our peers. However, it can be hard to organize a study if we don't know who has what classes and is available to study. So we aimed to build an app that could overcome these challenges.

What it does:

Our app, Ace, allows users to create and join study groups linked to certain courses. There is a universal courses tab where users can create groups specific to a class. There is a personal tab where a user can view groups they have created or joined. There is also a login page.

How we built it:

We built it using Flutter, an app development framework that runs on Dart.

Challenges we ran into:

None of our members understood or knew how to use Flutter or Dart prior to this hackathon. We also had ZERO experience in app development. As such much of our first day was dedicated to simply figuring out how to set up a flutter environment, which IDE to use, and how to run an emulator and just trying to get started.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are incredibly proud of what our app can do. It has multiple pages, with working interfaces. A beautiful login page. Intuitive and clean user interface. Our biggest struggle was also what we liked most, creating a navigation bar.

What we learned:

We learned an entirely new language, framework, and project planning process.

What's next for Ace:

We hope to properly connect Ace to a database and accumulate a userbase and actual login functionality.
