Inspiration

We always wanted to make something special to differently abled people!! The idea to contribute back to the community always inspired us. Improving accessibility brings about increased quality of life; creates more independence and better social integration. By creating this project we tried to help the people with limited accessibility!!

What it does

  • This project is Web based voice assistant platform that takes user input(query) through their voice.
  • It return the ansers to the query in voice and visual format so that the people with limited accessbility(person with visual impairment) can give command without using keyboard to the program and in return they get ansers in voice and visual format.

How we built it

We used Flask, SpeechRecognition, Html and Css to build our application.

Challenges we ran into

We are new to speech recognition technology, so this was a quite difficult challenge in itself!! Also some of the libraries we used were troublesome when it came to setting them up and getting them to work! It was quite challenging when we were trying to integrate our back-end logic with the front-end part but after careful reading and looking around we ultimately figured out the way!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to develop a Voice Assistant app with most of of the functionality we had planned on achieving and enjoyed tackling the issues and bugs as a team! We learnt a lot of things in while working on this project.

What we learned

We learned new technologies/libraries like SpeechRecognition, Flask, pyttsx3 etc.

What's next for AccessWeb

We are planning to make an Android/Ios vesion of this Web App and also we would like to add feature where the result of the query are also displayed in text format!
