Inspiration

In a perfect world...we would be able to attend all these Hackathons in person.

What it does

Scraps all the recent and upcoming Hackathons from devpost and presents their location on a map along with its dates

How I built it

Flask framework as a base, then Python for webscraping, geocoding, and mapping

Challenges I ran into

I learned pretty much everything I used for this project from scratch. I had never done any sort of mapping, webscraping (my first ever webscraper!), or geocoding before this project. I spent a lot of the early part of this hackathon just trying to figure out what everything was, what the best tools were, and how to use them.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of how I learned so many new things in the timeframe for this hackathon, and could pull it all together for a final project.

What I learned

Pretty much everything I used for this project was learned on the spot in this hackathon.

What's next for 2020-2021 Hackathon Map

I'd like to have a section for online hackathons too, since those are the actual feasible hackathons, as well as more user interactivity.
