Inspiration

During the brainstorming session, we made many jokes about the never ending slew of sequels in the video game industry, mainly within the shooter genre (I'm looking at you Overwatch 2). When one teammate suggested making a variation on Tetris, everything came together.

What it does

2-Tris is a co-op 2D shooter version of the classic game Tetris. In it, one player shoots the Tetris blocks to rotate them while the other player shoots the blocks to shift their position.

How we built it

We built 2-Tris using Python's Pygame library. The soundtrack was composed using MuseScore3.

Challenges we ran into

Lots of moving parts (blocks), lack of semi colons, indentation, clear line function working with graphics

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Made a game that was fun for us to create and play, composed 2 original compositions

What we learned

Throughout the course of this hackathon, we learned what it meant to work in a team whilst extremely tired and over caffeinated. It took some time to develop our workflow, but we eventually figured out a system of having pairs work on elements of the game and then piece them together.

What's next for 2-Tris
