Inspiration
The healthcare infrastructure in our country is still not as robust and reliable as it should have been, even after 76 years of our independence. There is no streamlined, digital and formal system to keep track of a person's medical history which may potentially lead to inaccurate diagnoses and further complications in the future. Our full-stack web application, 'MyMedico' - My-Medi.Co not only strives to be the answer to this age-long problem, but so much more.
What it does
'MyMedico' aims to be a one-stop solution to all your medical needs.
- From booking online/offline consultations with a medical practitioner,
- Locating nearest pharmacy,
- Purchasing medicines online, we have it all.
Additional features include:
- Medication and appointment reminders,
- Patient's profile access and overseeing by guardian and doctors concerned,
- Detailed information regarding prescribed medicines, etc.
How we built it
- Front-end UI was developed with the help of React TypeScript and Material UI library, hosted using Firebase and the domain provided by GoDaddy.com.
- Back-end consists of a RESTful API built using NestJS (a Node.js framework), which stores all its data in a secure MongoDB Atlas database (NoSQL) and the API is hosted on Amazon Web Services using the Serverless-Lambda framework.
Challenges we ran into
- We tried creating a RESTful API using Taipy. Unfortunately, due to our lack of expertise with the library and inability to find proper documentation we were unable to use it to build our API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Being a team of just two developers, it can be haphazard and hectic to manage all the different tasks that need to be taken care of in such a competitive and prestigious edition of an MLH hackathon. But thanks to our team's synergy along with the amazing, vibrant and lively environment set by the organizing team of Make-A-Ton 6.0 we were able to come this far and create a functional full-stack web application.
What we learned
- We learned as a team to be proactive as we tried to crack and develop upon our problem statement, while at the same enjoying the events, connecting/networking with each other especially with fun and innovative approaches such as the connect.makeaton.in program.
What's next for 10_ByteBuds_MyMedico
- Integration of backend and frontend services to completion in order to make My-Medi.Co a fully functional full-stack web application
- We look forward to attending more such insightful and exciting events in the future with all of the amazing sponsors, especially Major League Hacking and team Make-A-Ton. Special thanks to RISE and CITTIC for approving and appreciating the initiative. Together lets Make-A-Ton of good stuff and make this world a better place!
