So I bought Cell (Stephen King) while in Bloomington. Now, I'm a big hater of Stephen King. BIG HUGE HATER. But Cell was okay. I mean it wasn't the GREATEST THING EVER but he didn't do his typical LOOK AT ME I'M STEPHEN KIIIIIIIIIIING nonsense.

Also. For once, a novel that didn't have a black character purely so he could throw the n word around as much as possible. (~~Unfortunately, there were no black people at all.~~ WHOOPS, forgot that the main antagonist phone-zombie was black. But at least he didn't get to throw around his favourite slur.)

I was also pleasantly surprised by one of the main characters being gay. Queer was only used twice. I am amazed at Stephen King's restraint. Usually if a gay character appears, it becomes a long stream of queer queer queer queer fag faggot fag faggot fag faggot. Unfortunately the character seemed to be a bit of a stereotypical gay, not like the 'limp wrist' stereotype but the super clean small intelligent dainty-ish type. I still liked Tom anyway, he was pretty cool. :|

I may have spent the entire book actually hoping it'd go "SURPRISE, CLAY (the main character) HAS REALISED HE IS ROMANTICALLY INTERESTED IN TOM." It didn't happen but I shipped it anyway and I guess was rewarded with hugs, a few like, kisses between friends, and Clay thinking about how much he regular-loves Tom (and also Jordan).
