Uber and Lyft

So, I wanted to talk about Uber and Lyft. I'm a busy mom who can't really manage a regular work schedule, so I was driving for these rideshares to make a little extra money. The flexibility works great for me.

Uber has cut its rates to an extent that it is paying well below minimum wage after one figures in the driver's expenses. I looked at my Uber app, and see several drivers signed on, right now. I assume they haven't done the math or are truly desperate. Here is a pretty good post someone wrote up about it: http://www.reddit.com/r/uberdrivers/comments/2rvpld/why_im_through_with_uber_until_further_notice_and/

So, I'm not going to be driving for Uber any more. I'm going to stick with Lyft for now, as long as they don't do this same thing. If any of you are considering driving for either, I strongly advise against using Uber. And anybody who needs a ride, I'm hoping you will use Lyft instead. It does cost more than Uber, but it's still less than a taxi. If you do use Uber, please, please, PLEASE, bring a little cash and tip your driver. Uber claims tips are included in your fare. Their drivers are making less than minimum wage. Help them out.

Anybody willing to spread this around would be greatly appreciated.

Steampunk/Victorian Clothing?

So, a friend of mine is planning a steampunk/Victorian-era wedding to happen next spring. He just got fitted for a steel-boned waistcoat and needs a pair of black trousers in the Victorian or Frontier style to go with it. He requires something that sits about 2" above his natural waist, so that trousers and waistcoat fit together well. He was in a terrible accident and has had several disfiguring abdominal surgeries, hence the need for a higher-sitting trousers and a specialty waistcoat.

He would like to avoid online purchasing, so that if the fit is not what he needs, he doesn't have to deal with returning it. He's also pretty broke, so cheap is better. Would anyone know of any place that would sell such an item -- thrift stores I can keep an eye on, vintage shops that may carry the item, costume shops that do sales, or specialty clothing shops that could work within a budget? He's tried western stores, and he does know about Flossie's.

I know this is a great resource, so thanks in advance for anyone who might know.

There will be food, music, fire, hot chicks, hearses and ambulances as well as a 10 minute show where all the ambulances sound off their lights and sirens, which is VERY loud and impressive to see in person.

The event is free and runs from 5-10PM this Saturday at 13th Floor Haunted House (4120 Brighton Blvd, just South of I-70) feel free to bring as many people as you like or cross post this information!

The kind one can find in a supermarket or superstore (nothing nefarious, I'm just living a cash only lifestyle these days).

So what I'm asking is, are there any brands you can recommend for good coverage in the greater Denver metro area, or any brands I should avoid for any reason?

Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone!

We have two special dogs (for the low price of one) up for adoption right now at Foothills Animal Shelter. (About 15 minutes outside of Denver on 6th Ave.)

Not only was I the one who checked the dogs in (the owner was being evicted? Or something?), I have a shar-pei mix myself and can attest to how special and wonderful they are. These two are not so great with other dogs so should go to a home that doesn't already have other animals, but they are SUPER with children.

Shar-peis are renowned for their loyalty, excellent potty-training (mine would burst before she had an accident inside), and solemn, dignified quietness unless channeling their roots as ancient Chinese palace guard dogs.

They have been together forever and wub each other a lot, so they have to go together. If you know someone who has room in their heart and home for two magnificent Chinese Shar-Pei mixes, please share this! All adoptions include microchips, vaccinations, a free vet visit and $10 our superb dog training program. (Our trainer specializes in senior dogs and Ma and Pa are two old dogs who'd love to learn some new tricks!)

Thank you!

Amputee needed for short horror/comedy film

SORP Films is filming our newest web series "Death Hearse" a horror/comedy film and we are in need of actors and actresses.

This gig is not paid, so why the hell would you want to be a part of it? Because:

1. Our films get seen (over 2 million views on Youtube alone, many of our films go viral and we have been featured in print, television and many other places)
2. Our films are fun to be a part of and you can show your friends what you helped create (There will be lots of action, violence, car chases, explosions, etc in our new film)
3. You will be on set with women in lingerie, if you're into that sort of thing.

I need all sorts of actors currently so hit me up but the one thing I need immediately is someone with a partial arm or leg who is willing to use that physical attribute as part of a special effect. This is not a situation where your physique will be cast in a negative light, we have just found that certain shots in horror scenes work great if the person is able to wear a prosthetic that we have created if they have this build.

Thank you for looking, see our films by looking up http://www.youtube.com/user/pyrotechc3h8
