GUM & Botanical Garden

MSK - Museum of Fine Arts Ghent

The Museum of Fine Arts Ghent (MSK) is the oldest museum in Belgium. In the extensive permanent presentation you'll discover over 600 masterpieces of European painting and sculpture, from the Middle Ages up to the present, with an important selection of (Belgian) art from the 19th and the first half of the 20th century.

Dr. Guislain Museum

The Dr. Guislain Museum is, as a museum on psychiatry, a place where past and present meet. The human psyche has always been a source of fascination. But the knowledge we have now still goes hand in hand with mystery. A lot of questions remain unanswered, theories fade, but sometimes also reappear. The Dr. Guislain Museum is a lieu de mémoire and a laboratory, a museum ‘in psychiatry’ where experiment is key, where issues on metal wellbeing and illness are questioned and the complexity of the human psyche is revealed through testimonies, documents and records, art and photography.

St Peter's Abbey

St Peter’s Abbey is one of Ghent’s foremost monuments. Concealed behind its imposing walls is a surprisingly large garden with a vineyard, herb garden, fruit trees and ruins. The buildings you see today date from the 17th and 18th centuries, the impressive refectory from the Middle Ages. St Peter’s Abbey presents historio-cultural, literary and photographic exhibitions at national and international level.

S.M.A.K.

S.M.A.K. shows art from its own collection in dialogue with works of contemporary artists from all corners of the world. By means of contemporary art, we seek and give meaning to this complex and fragmented world. In doing so, we make every effort to be accessible and inclusive, because art is for everyone. Because we experiment, every visit becomes exciting. Meet artists with a surprising and visionary view of the world and sharpen your perspective. Slowly recover from the many impressions at Wilde Weide or by taking a walk in the park.

STAM - Ghent City Museum

STAM is the Ghent city museum. It presents the story of the city of Ghent. A permanent circuit leads visitors along a chronological trail of objects and multimedia which trace the development and growth of Ghent. Temporary exhibitions explore the concept of 'urbanity' from different angles. STAM's real showpiece, its raison d'être, is the city itself. A visit to the city museum is not complete without a visit to Ghent.

Design Museum Gent

Design Museum Gent is closed. The museum is getting a new wing and a complete renovation. By 2026, all the buildings will be seamlessly connected and there will be extra space for temporary presentations, workshops, lectures and events, space for art handling and logistics, proper sanitary facilities and an elevator. A project with great and sustainable ambitions, a real bridge between the city, visitors and the design world. In addition to the extra multifunctional space, there will be a museum café, a terrace, a new reception area and a shop.
