Aries II
The Three of Wands/Decan 2 of 36/ March 30-April 9
The Sun enters its own decan & exalted place of Aries II. Temple of Mars, The Sun is an honored guest.
Aries II: 30 March - 9 April 10 00’-19 59’ Aries
You’re still here! Or you just joined! Whatever the case, welcome to Aries II, The Sun travels through the very decan that it rules and where it is also exalted!
One day at a time, one decan at a time. Remember: Decans are a 10 day “week” and at some point during that decan-week if you take the time to honor the things you’re noticing, that is all that is asked of you.
Celebrate the second “week” of this decan walk and your commitment to the bright & shining path that is unfolding. What things began to rise over the horizon within the last 10 days? Look at the threads that you began to find & see if you can begin to braid them into a new thread of your own. This decan seeks to creatively establish the vision of what’s next.
I think of the joke about the farmer who was “out standing in her field” with the image of the corresponding card (below) because Aries II does stand out. It burns brilliantly and illuminates a 360º radius of enthusiasm, capability, & authority.
What stands out to you during these next ten days? What is in your field of vision? There is supremacy, sovereignty, governance & leadership associated with this decan. This decan suffers no fools because there’s higher work to be done.

Teucer of Babylon writes that natives born in this decan “will be rich and beset by sorrows and losses and the recovery of possessions”1
The Sun card (Sun) & The Emperor card (Aries)
Decan Transit:
The Sun will oppose the Moon on 1 April, casting maximum light on the night queen/Full Moon called the Pink Moon. This full moon celebrates the return of the sun’s light with the recent Equinox & showers illumination on to the land for all to cheer. A few days after this full moon, an exalted Jupiter in Cancer will be squared by this exalted Sun. This aspect happens on 4 April and can be a moment of character building that breeds optimism, enthusiasm and maybe a lucky break. It makes me think of this fable retold by Alan Watts:
Once upon a time there was a Chinese farmer whose horse ran away. That evening, all of his neighbors came around to commiserate. They said, “We are so sorry to hear your horse has run away. This is most unfortunate.” The farmer said, “Maybe.” The next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it, and in the evening everybody came back and said, “Oh, isn’t that lucky. What a great turn of events. You now have eight horses!” The farmer again said, “Maybe.”
The following day his son tried to break one of the horses, and while riding it, he was thrown and broke his leg. The neighbors then said, “Oh dear, that’s too bad,” and the farmer responded, “Maybe.” The next day the conscription officers came around to conscript people into the army, and they rejected his son because he had a broken leg. Again all the neighbors came around and said, “Isn’t that great!” Again, he said, “Maybe.”
The whole process of nature is an integrated process of immense complexity, and it’s really impossible to tell whether anything that happens in it is good or bad — because you never know what will be the consequence of the misfortune; or, you never know what will be the consequences of good fortune.
— Alan Watts
Natal Chart Consideration:
In your own chart, look to see if you have any planets or points in 10 00'-19 59' Aries. The Sun will be traveling through & activating these degrees. Also consider if you have your own Sun in aspect to 10 00’-19 59’ Aries: Sun in Libra will oppose the Sun; Sun in Leo & Sagittarius will trine the Sun; Sun in Capricorn & Cancer will square the Sun; Sun in Gemini & Aquarius will sextile the Sun.
my husband has his ascendant ruler in this card and he joked that he is “Lord of the Minions” even though it’s Aries I that is “lord of dominion” :p but I wanted to give him a nod here:
Personal Work:
Whatever ideas began to stir & experimentally bubble up from Aries I days, can you see something from that time that is coming to light? Now that we’re in this part of the opening path, allow your vision to adjust. The fog of winter fully burning off allows more of the horizon to present itself. I would encourage you to seek w i d e horizons, stretch your peripheral vision to allow the light in. I live in the mountains and so finding open spaces requires me to climb in elevation. The edge is where Aries seeks to find their place and this includes heights. Is there a tall building you could gain access to receive a higher perspective? Try traveling in Google Earth or find an online trail cam for you to seek new visions from. Do you have a friend who lives in another part of the world that you can exchange POV from via video chat? Open your eyes wider this decan and let the light flood in.
Part of this decan invites you to have a bigger picture, so that you can strategize how to manage it all. Aries’ corresponding tarot card is The Emperor and winning a battle is just part of The Emperor’s story. Keeping the spoils of war & governing the characters in the kingdom is the next challenge.
If writing is a part of your decan walk, here are some journal prompts for this continuing scene in the decan story:
What have you worked for, fought for, climbed for? How can you manage it, rule it, retain it?
What have you invested your trust in lately? Is this trust a challenge for you? How would you describe the hope you feel related to that trust? How long can you retain that hopeful feeling?
Do you imagine your journey to be solo? Have you received aid from allies at any point to help you get to where you are? How clear is that alliance and are you drawn to pay the debt or strengthen the ties?
If you began a project during Aries I, reflect on those 10 days’ worth of blueprints, sketches & wonder-filled ideas. Now it is time to craft some structural pieces to frame those ideas. What form is your project taking now? Gather your strengths & materials to experiment.
Simply noticing what is happening around you during this time is enough. If you’re not building from the ground up or seeking a new conquest, just allow yourself the time to observe with open eyes. The Sun is bright making for stark but limited shadows. Step into the lights.
For further connection to Sun, as the decan ruler, you can focus your practice on the Sun’s Day (Sunday) & the Sun’s Hour. Sunday, April 5th is the only Sun day for this decan but you can work within the Sun’s hours on any day. Find the planetary hours for your location with this link: Planetary Hours Calculator Link
