Invalid characters

If you’ve tried to be an ‘elite-hacker’ with DC++, you probably have noticed that some characters are directly forbidden to use in the nick. Put in another way, you can’t enter them. They are:
$ – (Dollar sign) This character is used by the NMDC-protocol thus it is unavailable. (I predict this will later be removed due to the upcoming ADC protocol.)
| – (Pipe) This character is also used by the NMDC-protocol thus it is unavailable. If I get the termonology right, it’s called a seperator (it seperates commands in the protocol). (I predict this will later be removed due to the upcoming ADC protocol.)
– Greater than
‘ ‘ – (Space) This character is also used by the NMDC-protocol thus it is unavailable. If I get the termonology right, it’s called a delimiter (it is used to show that you’re continuing on a command).
Now you of course think “but hey, I’ve seen people with a space in their name!”. Well, yes, that’s possible. You will need to use a different ASCII character to write this. Try and hold down Alt and press 2-5-5 on the numeric keyboard. I like to call this character a ‘hard space’. You probably can do this with the rest of the characters. I haven’t bothered to try…
