David Wecht is an American attorney and jurist, who has served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania since 2016. Prior to his election in 2015, Wecht had served as a judge of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

JUDICIAL ELECTIONS & RETENTION
After serving initial 10-year terms, jurists who seek reelection do so through “retention elections” in which they are not affiliated with any political party. Retention is a nonpartisan method of reelecting Pennsylvania judges and is intended to be politically neutral as it does not require judges to engage in campaigning against other candidates.
