throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
I must begin by apologizing for the neglect of ministry updates over the last few months. As many of you know I receive no income from the ministry. Last year my wife was compelled to quit her job due to health concerns which caused me to return to work after about an 18 month lapse. While my time devoted to the ministry has diminished, the support for our partners overseas has remained constant thanks to your generous contributions.
In addition to our partners monthly support we have been able to reduce the balance on the land purchase for the Mai Ai Orphanage by providing an additional and consistent gift of $500 each month earmarked for that purpose. Some have even given additional offerings for the orphanage that we have in turn sent along. One of our national pastors in Thailand went home to be with the Lord earlier last year but we have continued to support his widow as they were both faithful to the ministry. Another of our national families live close to the border with Cambodia where hostilities have been off and on recently. They have extended family that has been displaced by the conflict. Elsewhere, one of our missionaries has been able to establish a connection with some pastors and Bible students in Vietnam. The goal is to set up recurring training sessions but there is an element of danger involved. In Cambodia we have been able to assist in the building of a church in Kampong Speu Province. Brother Jojo has been busier than ever it seems traveling through many provinces conducting training sessions and supplying study materials. Pastor Sok from Oudong whom some of you met during his visit to the US last summer has been building non stop since his return and is on track to open a Bible institute this spring. Brother Glenn Colley continues to see the Lord add to the DaNgow church and the outreach with Pastor Reap at the Elephant Stable Village Church is teaching the youth to memorize scripture and hymns as well as providing brotherly love and assistance to the elderly in the village. The Sims family serving in Papua New Guinea will be coming home on furlough this summer. God is doing amazing things in the remote areas of that island nation. When one mountaintop village receives a mission outpost another neighboring village asks for someone to come share with them the “God talk”. The Lord truly is blessing throughout the ministry!
Sister Pam has had an uncomfortable fall and winter with many aches and pains and unanswered health questions. She would be the first to tell you that she’s ready to go home, just waiting for the Lord’s timing. She promised Brother Biggs that she would continue to support the ministry as long as there were funds in the bank. Our goal and promise to her is the same. The harvest truly is great, it is the Lord’s harvest, and we thank you for laboring with us in His field.
In service to Jesus,
David Maddux
