Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

Children of Time Awards.

So... apparently, I have too many nominations for the Children of Time awards in three separate categories.(Huh?) And that's breaking the rules. (Eh?? Now I just feel bad for breaking rules! I didn't even know there were rules!!) They've asked me to tell them which ones to keep and which ones to boot. (Oi.) Honestly, I can't decide. (I can't! ...except for Pulse. That one? Gone! *g*)

First thought that pops in to my mind? What happens if I don't reply? Will they disqualify me? Honestly, I kind of hope so. First I had to accept nominations (under the threat of disembowelment!) and now they want me to decide which ~~children~~ to keep.

Fear not, I won't not reply - I'll have to sleep on it, though - but I should point out now that, while I really appreciate being thought of, I won't be accepting any nominations for future rounds. (Yes, Wendy, I'm talking to you! *g*) I know it takes a great deal of effort on the behalf of the organisers and, I'm sure, those who do the nominating and I'm grateful, really, but I'm not a great fan of awards to begin with and I'm not entirely comfortable with the process. At least you had the option of opting out of the Kerths. (I know, I know, I make *no* sense. Who doesn't like accolades?)

Is three weeks still new? I've had my puppies for three weeks. They're definitely the nicest new thing right now. Otherwise I'm... still unemployed, still waiting for applications, still cooking and cleaning like a good wife. *g*

Two, I suppose. It's kind of warm, so I'm not wearing an awful lot... Yep, I've even forgone the socks. *g*

I'm currently reading Running With Scissors. Before that was Wolf At The Door which, yes, is technically the wrong way around. Man that guy had a messed up childhood.

The puppies. They're pretty hilarious to watch. It was hot today so I was spraying them with water... Leo, my pup, would come up to me and wait while I sprayed him and then whinge until I'd pat him. He'd tolerate the water if, and only if, he got his ears scratched, thank you very much! My brother's pup, Jack, would run up, wait until I turned the hose on him, yelp and dash off (rinse, repeat) and Theon, the other puppy, would howl (with puppy laughter, obviously) from her perch behind the tyre while the other two got wet.

... I'm easily amused. *g*

I haven't a clue what the date was, actually, but it was sometime after The Christmas Invasion had aired and before Season two.

Rose, naturally.

All the new stuff. One or two episodes of the original series. I wanted to watch some, but there's so much I don't know where to start.

They are now. *g* The only person who resisted was my dad. I'm so good, I even converted my uncle who, unfortunately, pestered me until I gave in and watched the Christmas Special with him.

Fandom

1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?
I did. I hope to once more...

1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!

For a little while you try a brolly. It’s sleek and black with an engraved handle and it’s a fair bit more stylish than your last, if you do say so yourself. Expensive, too, you’d guess, having nicked it from Pete and Jackie’s after one of their terribly terrible posh parties. It’s the right height - just perfect for the casual lean - and it looks fairly good with your new, charcoal suit, but it rains just as much in this London as it did in the last, and everyone has a brolly.

It makes you blend in when you want to stand out. You’ve blended quite enough, as far as you’re concerned.

You try a scarf too, of course. It isn’t nearly as long as the last one and the ends keep getting nattered, but it’s colourful and it swishes a little bit when you walk. You rather like the scarf, you must admit, and you think you’ve struck gold, but the scarf, like the brolly, is just that little bit... ordinary.

You persist all through your first winter anyway, wasting all that valuable time you could have spent on the hunt, thinking you’ve found the one, only to find yourself sorely disappointed come summer when the scarf is, quite suddenly, all but excruciating to wear. As it turns out, your silly half-human, entirely-too-blended body is much more sensitive to the heat.
