Holy sh*tsnacks two posts in one day....this could break the internet :P Then again I can never pass up a music meme!

Nabbed from sillie82's journal. I used the rules I remember from before - iPod on shuffle and write the first line of the first 20 songs that came on, no skipping! sidenote: I used my 'Driving tunes' playlist (200+ songs) since when I tried the whole iPod a lot of EBM stuff came on...EBM isn't big on lyrics. I also went with 'first line of song' disregarding any sampling/spoken random bits.

~ A low light was the ending of my favourite night club 'The Wendy House' the place was briliant, full of awesome people, good music and within 10 minutes walk from the flat. I'd been going to it for 11 years. Still haven't found a replacement :'(

Its beginning to feel a bit like Christmas...

I might be getting a wee bit festive ~ I spent most of my work day visiting a lot of wards including some Kiddie ones, most of which have their Xmas decorations up, the few radios I heard had festive songs playing too. Then I met my mum for lunch and she treated me to a trip to the German Market. Although no mulled wine was had (this time) it's still an awesome place to visit :D

My shopping is starting to get underway ~ though I'm struggling for ideas for the parents, both have festive Birthday's (25th and 27th) too >.< ~ I'm hoping to start writing my cards and get the flat decorations up this weekend!

I'm highly anticipating my 'festive mood' to slide into place next Thursday when its HOGWARTS IN THE SNOW time! aka yet another trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour :P

Well look at this, I do remember how to post. Sorry it's been an epic while ~ I've actually been doing some fun things

- MCM London Expo (saw Dan Radcliffe's pannel and some of the original power rangers)
- Thought Bubble (got to see the artist formerly known as Draykonis again :D).
- Got me a new car (called Jonty, since he's a lot posher than my old car)

And I've booked to go back to the Harry Potter tour again!...for the third time :D

Wow, just wow ~ I've been incredibly awful at updating or even checking this thing lately (by lately I mean the last 3 months) normally I at least manage to check my flist. This time I failed at even that :(

I'm sorry if I've missed anything important, but at this point I feel that going back and commenting on posts that are months old would be an odd/awkward thing to do ~ Please, please, please feel free to tell me about important posts you'd like me to look at or things you'd like my opinion on! I'm sure I've missed out on seeing some of the awesome things my very talented flist has created.

Boston

Well I really kept up to the 'update more' goal didn't I? ^^ Here's a bit of an update ~ can't you tell that I should totally be doing something else right now *cough*packing*cough*

I'm intending on posting some photos from my 2nd visit to the Harry Potter tour last November (yep I'm bad) and my kind of birthday trip to London back in January. Need to pick out my favorites

Randomly started going to 'Circus Skills' which is a lot of fun and getting less painful by the week :P My main focus is poi (which I can now turn round with without hitting myself in the face! so yaaay!) I do tend to prat around with a hoop sometimes too.

And on Thursday I fly to Boston! *excited* Got 9 days in the states ~ planning on going on mini-missions (Foxwoods/Salem) we're also going to Anime Boston while there which should be fun! never been to an American Con before. Haven't been to an anime con in general since 2009. I've dug out my Misa (Death Note) and Zell (Final Fantasy 8) cosplays, quite glad they still fit, I appear to have lost weight ^^

Now I shall be off to make a list of things I could do with not forgetting to pack/do before I go...or sleep, if I'm being honest it'll be sleep...

...the poshest hotel I've ever stayed in!

This was the place I was being put up in (not by the NHS I should probably add, they just paid my travel) I don't think I like the posh interactions (seriously someone called me ma'am, I almost cracked up) the room however was pretty fab! and the food was realy nice. Though there appeared to be cushion obsession going on. It's called Aviator and was next to a private airport in Farnborough.

Can honestly say I've never been to a place where they fold and seal the bog roll...every time they do the 'housekeeping' O.o

Also embroidered DRESSING GOWN ~ never been to a place that provides these either. Please excuse my face...I don't take a good selfie

London Calling...

It's calling twice actually.

Next week work are sending me on a residential training course to Frimley ~ will be passing through London to get there. Best bit about this one is that the hotel I'm being put up in is like £190 a night!...and I'm gunna be there for 2, also get breakfast and dinner (the menu looks expensive) :P anyone who knows me in rl will probably be wetting themselves at the idea of me in a super posh hotel, I know I am.

The second trip is happening a week later ~ actually staying in London this time ~ bit of a birthday treat to myself ^^

Trying to plan some things to do while there that don't require much walking/standing and aren't too expensive, anyone any ideas/suggestions? If anyone's got any suggestions for pubs/restaurants too that would be great!

Also thinking about going to a show so main question and reason for this post ~ Does anybody have any recommendations for a show (or two) to see while I'm in London? (gunna be there 22nd-24th)

I've already seen 'We will rock you' and 'Rock of ages' I'm thinking Wicked but can't decide ^^

I also decided to keep track of how many word's I'd written as well as fic's completed. So yeah, can't say I was LJ productive last year (10 post in the whole year, 10! bit shocked really) I think the issue is me, and my thinking that nothing I do is post worthy. I have been trying to keep up with everyone's LJ and commenting where I can so it's not soooo bad...hopefully ^_^

The end of last year got a bit stressful ~ I got a new job and it knocked me back more than I'd though it would. I still work for the NHS but it's a (slightly) better band and a whole heap of new experience so yeah. I started mid December but had the interview in the October, got told I was a runner up and then got told I'd got it ~ bit of an emotional roller coaster really, added to the fact that I was leaving a job I'd been doing for 5yrs 5 mths so it was kinda scary too!

Anyway ~ I'm hoping to be 'better at LJ' this year (read have more confidence) which considering I've got 10 posts to beat can't be too tricky eh? :P

Dread Wig # 2 ~ the black and blue one

Wow has it really been that long since I last updated...whoops! <- though be honest, who noticed? ^^

Any way I'm breaking the unintentional LJ silence to share a project I've recently finished. I am ridiculously proud of how this turned out (if you follow me on twitter you'll know this already) I'm so impressed I can't wait to wear them!

Behold my home-made dread wig! This was my first attempt at making double ended dreads, they were easier then expected once I found the right method

I've made this for Infest (this weekend) and although it's been very time consuming I've found it relaxing, was a little anxious last week since all I had was a load of DE's and a wig but the install went great :D

Gunna share more photos - before/after, wips and different views - be warned there's a load of them ^^

I don't have any photos of 'the supplies' which is a bit of a shame but I do have some 'in progress shots'

The hair all divided up and ready to be dreaded. I used 4 different shaded of blue in total

Some freshly sealed DE's relaxing on the living room table. Some of them aren't perfect but I think that kind of 'adds to the character'

This is how I was storing them

Correct number of dreads done! (I aimed for 50 DE's and I think I got there) time to install!!

Cut the wig to a more manageable length and styled it a bit. I decided to add an headband to a) help the wig stay on and b) cover some of the hair so I didn't have to install too many. I think it works :)

About half way through ^^ Extreme Ghostbusters kept me company while I was working on this

Ta-da! Install complete...

...although it's rather 'back heavy'

Hence the reason I tried to style it a bit so that more of the weight was 'on top'. Half up half down didn't work but half up pigtails seem too :D

And there we have it, the second dread wig I've made and by far my favourite...I just hope I can do it justice this weekend ^^

We've actually had a sunny bank holiday and I still haven't left the flat ^^ Instead I've been cleaning (in preparation of adelaide_rain's return tomorrow) and working on my very first dread wig (am on to the second to last stage I think *go me!*)

I've done a couple of those 'guess the quotes' meme's recently and I keep thinking that I should write my own, we'll see. I did get round to updating the last couple of months of Dr Sketchy's drawings though ~ March and April

April includes one of my favourite pieces from recent months...it's been a month and I still think I'm proud of it ^^ hence the need to share it below :P

I really am bad at updating ~ I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm managing this one it because I'm supposed to be packing ^^ We (family and me) are having a fairly last minute trip to London tomorrow. Looking forward to a good few days ~ I'm dragging them all to Camden again :P ~ If only I could shift the last of this epic cold, seriously I haven't ear ache like this since I was a kid

Anyway back to the blogging challenge I *might* have forgotten about ^_^

Date/time stamp: 30/10/09 13:04:04 ~ What you're looking at is a couple of wrapped up statues! This was taken in Leeds City Square, that building is the old post office. I can't remember why they'd been wrapped up. I seem to think it might have been to do with some 'demo' that was going due to take place later that day, so it might have been to protect them. Or they could have been moving them or something. Either way I remember walking past and thinking that they looked rather silly, a photo had to be taken

New hair and Piercing # 23

I've just had a week off work and actually managed to get a few things done, the main thing being my car's service and first MOT which ended up costing a lot less than I thought so I treated myself to an hair cut ~ the first I've had in like 22 months, I'm quite liking it, which is probably a good thing ^^

On Saturday winged_dark_elf invited me along to a Tattoo convention 'the Tattoo Tea Party' It was a pretty good day out. I wasn't actually planning on getting anything done ~ I know I want a wrist tattoo but can't decide what I want to get ~ but then I saw the piercing stall, £15 any piercing :P I really couldn't resist.

This was a piercing that I've kinda wanted for a few years. Piercing #23 my Conch

It's the one going through the back, inner bit of the ear. I thought it was going to be a lot more painful than it actually was and it only hurts now if I knock it ^^

All in all I've had a good week off, shame I've gotta go back to work tomorrow

*cough* moving on...

Christmas is almost upon us! and I'm actually feeling rather festive this year :D ~ The flat is decorated, most of the presents sorted and I was round at my mum's one night last week trying to sort a bill out and managed to catch the infamous Coca~Cola advert #holidaysarecoming!! I think that helped. Looking up the brilliant 'Snowman Irn-Bru' was the next festive step

Tonight I'm planning on writing cards, wrapping presents and watching Home Alone, speaking of cards see this post if you're wanting one ^^

A while ago the lovely sillie82 opened up some commission slots. I asked her if she'd be willing to draw a couple of my OC's and she was!!

I sent her the best description I could manage along with some of my own not-so-good drawings and low and behold she created awesomeness

How awesome it this? She also sent me the original (and bonus sketches) that is currently hanging in my 'Corridor of awesome arts'

The characters are my own ~ Yorkshire and Jamie. They're from my not finished fic that I started for NaNoWriMo 2010 ^^ I have some sketches I've done of them on my DA

~ Speaking of websites, I finally got my AO3 invite, I've made the account but haven't mustered up the nerver to post anything yet (I suck I know ^^)
