OK, crew. Here's the latest and possibly the greatest, from yours truly and artist Joseph Graves.

If you dig Golden Age heroes whupping up on Nazis (and who doesn't, really?), then grab yourself a copy of...

FOXFORCE!

https://www.drivethrucomics.com/product/209831/Fox-Force-1a?manufacturers_id=7565

At 75 cents, it's a steal!!

A very Merry Christmas

Was picked up by my cousin John and ferried down to his place in my old home town by the lake. There he hosted a family get-together with over 20 people, none of whom I'd seen face-to-face, iirc, since I moved here 11 years ago. Had a banquet. Much love and merriment. I hope we do it again next year. And maybe the year after that. And maybe...

Only Lady N and Settai seem to post here anymore. Well, what the hey...our heyday for this was the late 90's / early '00s and, as incredible as it may seem, that's long gone by now.

I'm getting a few little things published, maybe a lot of them by year's end. We'll see.

But I'm wondering. Guess I'm just looking for approval.

Did anything I wrote really make a diff? Was it any good?

Yeah, maybe I'm fishing for compliments. Or something. Or just being morose.

Anyway...be good to each other. Hang in there.

And do good work.

Goodbye, Alice

My best friend of college days and many years thereafter, and yes, someone I really loved, is dead. Found out about it tonight, googling names. Got to learn not to do that.

Her name was Alice Speer and she was a doctor in Texas. I knew her when we were both students. She was my best female friend for ages and someone you couldn't help but love. We traded letters and phone calls for years after graduation. Gradually, we lost touch. Tonight I learned she passed away in her sleep in January.

So long, Al. It's gonna be a lot colder world without you.

What should I talk about? Not that it matters all that much, but...

...I got the Big Book that I've been working on for months done a few days ago and transmitted to the Powers That Be for approval. we'll see how it goes.

...Our current client is leaving us and we're all being reassigned. I had a call last Friday from a recruiter and she was supposed to call back on Monday but she hasn't. I left word with the employer to have someone call me back. They haven't. It'll probably work out, though.

...Got paid for a story coming up in March, not bad money. Also saw a colored, inked, and lettered page from an upcoming story. It's a beaut.

There aren't that many folks left who follow me here, I guess, but I value you all. Take care.

...but you know it would only stir up trouble. It's getting worse politically in the US...too much polarization, too much 60's style chaos. There may not be an answer and I don't know if we can ride this out. We're much more divided now than we were back then.

I had to unfriend someone and I realize that others have unfriended me. Guess you can't keep all relationships going. Maybe it's for the best.

On the bright side, an editor kind of liked my latest script and is forwarding it to the uber-editors to see if it can be used. Hopes, but not too much. We'll see.

Stuff and nonsense

Looked over some old archives with some of my stories on them and got nostalgic, a bit. I'm afraid those days are behind me now.

On Thursday we have a potluck supper at the Writer's Guild and I'll be reading a few minutes' worth of my detective story. We'll see how it goes.

Got the horror comic story approved and it should be drawn before long. In the meantime, I'm working on a funny animal story (yes!) and that will be submitted when I get it done.

One book and a short story slouch towards publication. Not sure what comic story will next be pubbed, but I'm sure something will be.

That's all for now.
