This little guy just happened to land on the windshield of my parked car. I had my Ricoh next to me and got this shot before it caught a new ride. It reminded me of Forrest Gump.
It started downpouring on my way home. It was one of those storms where the wipers can’t keep up. Shot waiting at a stoplight.
I recently shot my first rolls of film in a few years (well actually I finished one from two years ago) and was mostly happy with the results. A lot of what I shot were family pics, and I don’t like to show the dude’s face online, but I thought this one was ok… and I love it.
The second of the two film shots in this newsletter. Both 35mm Tri-X 400 pushed 2 stops. I think I just lucked out that the exposure worked here. I was shooting something else, saw these two, and snapped.
My cousin usually brings her family to my folks’ house every summer. The kids end up on the dock fishing in the evening and there is something so perfect and simple about being there with them. The water is calm, the sun is setting, the voices are lower, and the bobbers make little ripples as the fish nibble at the bait. Then there are the biggest smiles when they reel in the smallest sunfish you have ever seen. Magic.
I love this tunnel.
On the way home from where I grew up, the boy really needed to stop and there were no bathrooms nearby. We pulled off on a side road and I saw this. Not sure what it was, but it seemed interesting.
In the summertime, my mom and dad have this little “shack” that is really just a screened in room near their house. I slept there the last time I was back home. With all the windows open you can hear the loons, crickets, and drunk neighbors from the cities around their bonfire as you fall asleep. One thing about sleeping in this little building is that the sun is super harsh in the morning. I woke up and saw these shadows and shot a whole series. This was the best shot.
Good old power line through a rainy window. Thanks for looking!

Great set, Dan! Love the very first one and the tunnel shot.
