Who are you and what is this?

Hello and welcome, thank you for asking. I am Danielle, a writer, and this is my substack, where I post my writing (sometimes). I post a combination of poetry, short fiction and serialized fiction on (some) Fridays. For those of you who don’t know: Substack is kind of like youtube, but for blogs instead of videos. You don’t need an account to subscribe, just an email address. I will then send you only the finest poetry and fiction (that I’m capable of writing) and I won’t bother you that often, like once a month, if I had a good month.

What is all this fiction about then?

Thank you for the wonderful questions. I write short stories across the genres of sci-fi, fantasy and horror, usually some combination of the three.

Currently I am posting a serial called Monster Salvage Crew. It’s a story about a ragtag crew, illegally salvaging the dead bodies of giant monsters. It’s like Pacific Rim meets Guardians of the Galaxy, except it’s written down and not a movie. Also there is considerably more body horror, but in a fun cool sort of way. I hope you’ll want to check it out, I think it’s quite good. You can find the first part here.

Other than that, I’ll post one off stories here whenever I have an idea that I think is good.

I don’t even like poetry?

That’s entirely possible! But I still think you might like it if you tried it. I write about nature, identity, depression and whatever else I think would make an interesting poem. I can’t promise that you’ll like it, but here is a quick sample:

Much needs to be done
It’s one minute to midnight
The crunch will kill me

I take a deep breath
Precious time slips through my hands
Every second counts

We run on and on
Always more, never enough
Faster and faster

I’m taking a break
It’s one minute to midnight
There’s enough time left

But how gay is it?

What an oddly specific question, but my stories, like myself, are queer. That doesn’t mean everything is gay all the time, but a bunch of the characters are going to be queer. This will show up in the writing from time to time. If you don’t like that, then I am sorry to say that this is probably not the place for you.
