Pulling Fire
2 of Sticks - discipline in a shitty world
This song is called Frogg đ¸ it is from my tape The Rainbowâs Hum (2023) I think I am going to make a new cover for this album. Revisionism is a little strange but its not like many folks know it exists anyway. And I really want to
Greetings, hope you are feeling the divine embrace of the cosmos. If youre not feeling it lay down as close to earth as possible, curl into a ball, think of your kids, moms, dads, friends smile. Smile back. Let all the air out of your body. Be dead. Breathe in. You are alive. Maybe this will help. Just repeat it over until something happens.
Right now iâm at the library listening to a conversation between two oldâłfriends. One is talking about how her husband is in the hospital. Shes bringing him audio books. âwell ill let you go, talk soon. Im optimistic.â People are fragile, naturally fragile. We do not have shells, furs, thick hides, or scales. Nothing really to protect us from the outside. We were like this for thousands and thousands of years. We have built ourselves artificial security. Structures, armor, cars, armored cars, safe rooms, vaults, bunkers. We are always running back to the cave. Security is the foundation which all else grows. but it isnt real. There are some people afraid of everything but they disguise it as hate, or âlaw and orderâ. Rules keep some people feeling safe. Itâs like an invisible safety net of compliance.
I dunno where Im heading with this. Ive taken in a lot of data strands from disparate places. There is a book out called âEnshittificationâ by Cory Doctorow. I havent read it(Im 88th in line at the library) but I did read about it. Itâs basically how everything on the internet is becoming shittier. And that this shittiness is by design. This isnt nothing that we havenât already known on some level. Basically how there is no competition between platforms. Everything has become monopolized so there is no alternatives for us to move on to. There is no point in making anything better because everyone is already trapped. Ive been thinking the internet sucks for along time. I think it died around 2012 with Limewire. On some level I believe it causes brain damage. On the other spectrum, I read an in depth piece on âgooningâ by Daniel Kolitz appearing in Harperâs. Gooning in a nutshell is masturbating hours on end to porn montages aiming to reach a state of pure being or nothingness, something called the goonstate. Its almost like getting off on the idea of over-saturation itself. Mulitple screens. Insane mashups. Nihilistic messaging.
We live in meme land. The long form is being lost. Everything needs boiled down to its essence but I believe we are boiling away the essence as well. People dont even watch sports the same way anymore. Everything is fragmented. Instead of watching a game itâs broken up into games within itself, fantasy betting, prop bets. People are getting addicted to emptiness. Non sense. Maybe people will get tired of it and elongate their attention spans again. Maybe goon out to a painting or a novel. Thats ambitious.
But outside it is rather beautiful. The leaves are changing here. I love riding my bicycle
There is so much to draw. The last few months at my desk have been overwhelming to the point of paralysis. I want too much. Sometimes you just have to pick one thing and do it. Get lost in it. Soon that thing will be done. It can get crossed off the list. Then pick the next thing. You cant jump around endlessly. There is a discipline that must be adhered to. Discipline builds the fire. You may not build enough fire yourself to change the world, but you can build enough to change yourself. This will affect those around you. I cannot draw all the pictures at once. One by one.
There is a magnetic field surrounding you. The vibration must be raised. Vibrations. Frequency. That is all there is. Attention. Intention. Imagination. This is how you tap in to it.
ok i must get back now. further thoughts 2 in the works
best of luck to us

Loved this entry Dang. My brain keeps cycling through similar thoughts. The drawings, as always, are superb.
