The Bloodline is Satisfied by This Very Reliable Controller
Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2025Overall this is a great controller that includes a lot of functionality within it. First and foremost, it has a dock, whilst this might be a turn off for some people, I personally love it! It gives me a spot and space to have the controller rather losing it somewhere in a desk. Secondly, that dock acts as the receiver for the controller allowing for even faster input time compared to bluetooth. This also makes connectivity seamless and fast, the second I pick the controller off the dock it just connects.
The next thing I really like about this is the build quality, I had the pro 2 and its just a level above it. It has a more tactile feeling d-pad that I love, the controller feels more hefty, the toggle for the trigger, and the extra buttons are all just a plus.
Finally, this controller is very customizable. My bloodline comes from a long lineage of Playstation players so we are all just used to the X, O, Triangle, Square button layout. With this controller I am able to swap the faces on the buttons to match that exact layout and that's just amazing. It also has the ability to swap out different joysticks which would likely help a FPS player who needs a more precise joystick.

It's perfect. Just what I wanted.
Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2025Have wanted a controller with the dpad in the main position (PS layout) for a while that has a good dpad. I can live with either position for the sticks, it's just the dpad I care more about the position of. Others are either really expensive swappable ones or just don't have a great dpad or bad latency (Tarantula pro). This is finally just what I wanted. I love this controller.
I bought a wired pro 2 g classic before and the dpad just sucked. Maybe it was a bad one. But I haven't bought another 8bitdo controller since because I didn't trust their ability to make a good dpad. But this one is perfect. Easy to press down but still won't actuate any direction that you don't want. Perfectly precise and you can feel every direction that gets pressed, and a very quiet click. It still does the thing of being able to press down the middle of the dpad and press down all of the directions at once but it doesn't actually matter in this case.
Gave it a try for platforming (Celeste) and fighting (Mortal Kombat 1). Flawless in both cases.
Good amount of extra buttons, triggers swappable to analog or digital clicks, swappable face buttons that are very secure. Joysticks center perfectly and have very low deadzone (could use a bit more tension though). Unable to detect any latency from just looking at screen and pressing buttons (both from 2.4ghz on pc and bluetooth on switch 2). This is basically my dream controller. This is now the controller I will use for absolutely everything.
Yes, the face buttons are clackety and kinda loud. I don't care, you might. And it would be nice if it woke the switch 2 but it's not enough to make me feel negatively in any way.

Great quality, great brand.
Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2026I’ve bought numerous accessories from 8bitDo and have even reviewed a few for Amazon Vine. Their products are always top-notch yet reasonably priced. This Pro 3 controller for Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 is no exception. It looks sleek, and feels ergonomic and comfortable. Battery life is long lasting, and no issues with initial paring or later use.
I’m not a gamer, but my husband and son both are. Thanks to Amazon’s wishlist, I knew my husband was in the market for a new S2 controller, so I jumped when it went on sale. Happy I did!

So far a great controller. Time will tell
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2026The controller itself I believe deserves 5 stars. Four star review is due to the software. The software on PC seems to work fine. On android however it is almost impossible to name your preset profiles. Everytime I name a profile it either changes it to Chinese symbols or the name applies to the wrong profile making the mapping frustrating. Having the ability to map on the phone while playing the game on pc is pretty awesome.
I am not a gamer by any means. In the last 15 years I have played call of duty rarely, gta 5 for a few months and now fallout 4 for a few months. I have been using the same afterglow controller from walmart purchased around 2012. I think I paid $20 for it on clearance and originally it was maybe $40 or $50.
With that, my opinion is only based on my experience with a pretty bad controller. After using this pro 3 I am blown away by it. I cant believe I used that afterglow for so long.
Button placement on this controller was a concern of mine, particularly the two extra smaller buttons by the top triggers. I havent decided yet if I like where they are. Originally I wanted the top right extra button to be aim and the normal top right to shoot. But I found this difficult in practice. It is hard to hold the button while hitting the bigger button. The smaller buttons are more of a tactile easy press while the top normal buttons are a harder press. I wish they would have made them tactile.
The bottom paddle buttons are also in a somewhat bad spot for me. They are way too easy to press accidentally. For instance when you press the left joystick to run, I kept clicking that paddle button.
Button placement and how they operate almost drops my rating to 3 star but I need more time with the controller to decide.
Front Buttons and joysticks. The noisy buttons are rarely an issue for me when playing. My mapping places the front buttons to the extra buttons so I dont have to let go of the joysticks. But even when I am pressing the magnetic buttons a lot they are not loud. Occasionally they are loud when doing certain things but overall I dont see an issue with them.
The D pad is excellent for me. I haven't played it on a d pad game yet so I cant comment on how it does there. D pad feels good.
Joy sticks are nice so far. Coming from a controller woth terrible joysticks that didnt slide around the rings nicely it is an adjustment. I find myself overdoing certain movements due to how easily they slide around the ring.
Connectivity so far only using on pc and android is pretty dang slick. It connects way faster than the old afterglow and switches back and forth between pc and android when mapping flawlessly. My only complaint is I wish it did x input over Bluetooth to my pc. It may be able to do it but I havent seen a way yet.
Overall I am amazed that this controller is $55, considering the afterglow was nearly the same price before inflation went crazy and how terrible the afterglow is.
After more time using this controller, I will update review if needed.

The most comfy controller I have ever used!
Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2025I had an old 8bitdo sn30 pro+ I bought in 2020, and it was nice, functional, and worked well. It's taken a beating from use, three moves, a toddler, and a cat over the years, and I was impressed with how it held up, so I decided to indulge in 8bitdo's newest iteration; especially because the button swapping seemed like a neat feature for my monkey brain who switches between Switch/PC all the time.
I'm not a controller expert, I don't know much about them, but IMO, everything "feels" right. Buttons, d-pad, triggers in both analogue and digital mode all respond in a way that "feels' satisfactory.
It's probably the most comfortable controller I've ever held. It weighs what I feel is right, and the texture feels nice in my hands. For the price, it better feel like a premium controller, and it does! Many d-pads these days feel light, or move around, or you're never sure when you've pressed in, but the Pro 3 feels right. I don't use d-pad heavy input games, but I am generally satisfied with the ~feel~. Similarly, the L4 and R4 buttons have gotten flack for being difficult to press, but I find they are quite comfortable and easy-- it really seems like the controller is meant for specific hands, and fortunately for me, my hands fit!
I did have a problem on the very first day, the Ultimate Software used to update firmware would not properly update, and creating a profile ended up screwing up Steam button mapping; but a day later, the software was updated and all my issues were gone. You are always at the whim of the software/firmware, so unless you really need something specific, only update if you know why you're updating your controller!

Great for Steam/SteamOS
Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2025I bought the controller specifically to use for Steam Input and it does not disappoint. Full customization in Steam/SteamOS.
Some glaring problems for me...
1. The face buttons are loud, annoyingly. I considered returning the controller just because of this but after considering the many good points of the controller, I decided to just mod it and it is quieter now. I do still wish it wasn't this loud to begin with. Opening it was not easy though.
2. The controller does not work with the 2.4 GHz dongle that it comes with in direct input mode or Steam Input mode. You have to use Bluetooth for that. And since I bought this specifically to use for Steam Input, gyro is important for me. Bluetooth just doesn't cut it. It's unstable, jittery and sometimes the gyro just sort of flies off on its own. Using it wired solves this entirely though but I would prefer to play with it wirelessly.
3. This one is minor but it was a problem for me until I found how to "fix" it - the ABXY buttons are using the Nintendo layout, not Xbox, the controller by default even in D-input mode uses the Switch layout for the face buttons. I am aware you can swap the physical buttons but I am talking about the software side of things.
Things that I like:
1. The analog sticks are smooth and - in my experience, precise.
2. Gyroscope feels accurate to me, I am used to the Steam Decks gyro and Dualsense Edge and I think they feel similar.
3. D-pad, this is the best D-pad I have used on a controller so far. I only wish the facebuttons were this quiet too.
4. Build quality is also great considering the price. Has some decent weight to it as well. Not too heavy or too light.

Great Pro controller.
Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2026Great alternative controller to the Switch 2 Pro controller at a great price. Comes with the dock which is so clutch. Rumble is extremely good and the buttons are nice and clicky. Also comes which GameCube style buttons and sticks you can swap.

I normally love 8BitDo, but a lot's unnecessarily worse than the Pro 2
Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2025This is I think the fourth or fifth controller I've bought from 8BitDo, and I've loved all of them until this one. This controller is an improvement over the Pro 2 in many ways (the trigger stops, clicker dpad, and tighter paddles) but it's brought down by some major flaws that were very avoidable. The swappable face buttons, while cool and probably quite useful to some, are unbelievably loud, to the point that they sound broken. They're also very uneven in terms of feel; two feel mushy, two are loose and rattle, but all four are incredibly noisy, especially on the release, as if they're being pulled off a piece of tape every press.
Also, the build quality feels worse than the Pro 2; the two main halves of the shell have a gap that varies in size all along the seam like it was rushed out, a gap that you can literally close with slight pressure as if it's loose (I tried tightening the screws, but that didn't help). The left face button can also get caught inside the shell when there's no button on it; it's not a problem when there's a button on (which is all the time), but that's probably part of why it rattles so much.
Finally, they removed the Bluetooth on Windows; why? Yes, you can connect in Switch mode and reconfigure the buttons, but that can't possibly have good latency and is an unnecessary step that isn't needed on previous models. They also removed the removable battery feature, though I never used that feature and much prefer the trigger stops if that's why it was done.
tl;dr I really wanted to like this controller, but it's held back by the avoidable problems that the older versions don't have, especially the loud rattly face buttons that sound broken. I'm going to return this and get a replacement because hopefully some of the problems I had are flukes, but I don't have high hopes since I've heard the loud button problem from a lot of people.

Reviewed in Turkey on April 16, 2026Ben gayet memnunum şimdilik, Hissiyatı ve malzeme kalitesi çok iyi.
