To everyone who participated, congratulations!!! We did it and finished another round \o/ I know it’s been hard for several with many RL trial & tribulations, but we pulled together and got it done. I have hope we’ll have another round and that by then things will be in a much better place for ALL of us ;)

Summary: Alec and Ben have met before, but it's a little tough to hang onto memories in a place so fond of brainwashing. While Manticore was trying to repair Ben after his run-in with Max, and making sure Alec wasn't headed for the same kinda crazy, they were often confined in the same places at the same times. Ben loved his stories. What Alec doesn't remember is that he loved them, too. Wouldn't have been so bad, except those Psy-Ops guys really got into your head, stirred up the bad and kicked the wrong mental doors open. It got hard to know what was real, what was sane.

Later, Ben decides it's safe enough to come back to Seattle and check on his little brother. Dealing with him starts to shake some of Alec's memories loose, and suddenly Ben's way of thinking doesn't seem quite so crazy anymore.

There's not a lot of wiggle room in the posting schedule this year b/c I don't want to interfere with the darkangel_bb (which I think should be opening for sign-ups on the 14th or so). According to the original schedule, though, we were supposed to have finished posting 2 days before we're actually going to start, so everyone got a nice little extension and this is the price. I took into account how far along rough drafts are, and tried to space out those taking on multiple fic/art as best I could. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep the date you've been assigned unless it's, like, physically impossible because you'll be in outer space that day and astronaut gloves are super hard on your typing skills.

If you really need to change dates, keep in mind that I will give priority to pinch-hitters and those who are taking on multiple fic/art. If you have yet to turn in your draft/respond to my e-mail about your draft, I won't reschedule you until you do that.

IMPORTANT UPDATES TO THE CHALLENGE, PLEASE READ.

Since there's a lot of other stuff going on in LJ fandom around this time and we have a few deadline concerns, I'm shifting the schedule a little bit.

Rough drafts are now due June 14th. This gives you all an extra week. Keep in mind that a rough draft is all it has to be. As long as there are 3k words or more in there, you have a beginning, most of the middle, and an end, you're golden. You can have some middle scenes sketched-in and rush the ending for all I care; I just need to know that you have a clear plan and the finish line in sight. Posting will run from July 7th through the 12th, with 2 teams posting each day. This is so that we don't interfere too much with the darkangel_bb schedule, and gives you about 3 weeks after drafts are due to get your story polished and betaed. Hopefully this works out for everyone. If the new dates are going to be a problem for you, don't hesitate to speak up.

Check-ins! Authors, all you have to do is hustle over here and click on the poll; easy peasy! Artists, please poke your authors to make sure they've checked in. We need a response from everyone by May 17th, or we're assuming they've dropped out. For those needing help or worried about making the deadline, leave a comment, PM or e-mail us with the details in addition to answering the poll, and we'll see what we can do to help.

Also, it's nearing that time where people might be searching out betas or people to discuss plot issues with. If you need a beta, don't forget to check the beta sign-up post. And maybe think about signing up yourself. If you're willing to swap fics with someone—e.g. beta a fic in return for having yours betaed—sign up and make a note of that in your comment. If you only have time to beta a fic of a certain length—say, 5k or less—sign up and make a note of that in your comment. The general discussion post is also still open, and will remain so until the end of the challenge. Ask canon questions, seek out a cheerleader, throw your worries into the ether and wait for reassurance/concrit—just use it for whatever inspiration you might need. If you're shy you can always post anonymously. We just want to encourage everyone to help each other out.

As of now we have exactly zero pinch-hitters signed up. We're crossing our fingers that no one drops out but we all know that's not exactly fool-proof, so if you think you can spare the time, please help.

ROUND 2: General Discussion

This post is for anyone looking for general discussion regarding the challenge. Feel free to ask questions about canon details you may have forgotten, ask for research resources, find feedback and sounding boards, advertise for betas/cheerleaders, etc.. Anyone, signed up for the Dark Angel Reverse Bang or not, can participate. The more, the merrier.

With art reveals out of the way, anonymity is no longer necessary, though you can post anonymously if you really want to. Captcha is enabled for anon comments and IP logging is currently turned off, though this may change in the case of trolling, excessive spam, etc.. All we ask is that you please exercise the same courtesy you would if you were posting under your own username.

Tracking this post and/or individual threads would probably be a good idea, especially if you're posting anon, so you'll know when someone replies to you or another comment you're interested in.

If you're having trouble finding a beta there are a couple of things you can do, in addition to commenting here: 1.) check the beta sign-ups post and contact anyone signed up there directly, and/or 2.) advertise to jam_pony_fic using the help: beta request tag. Mods will not be assigning beta readers.

ROUND 2: Pinch-hitter Sign-ups

This is the post for those who would like to pinch-hit for the challenge.

Pinch-hitters are contacted in the event that an author drops out and needs to be replaced. The mods will use the information provided in the form to decide which pinch-hitters would be the best fit for any prompt that might become available. We'll work our way down the list, contacting one pinch-hitter at a time and giving them 24 hours in which to accept or decline, before moving on to the next.

Keep in mind:

Fics must be 3,000 words or more.
We will do our best to accommodate you on the schedule, allowing for later posting dates, especially a.) for those already participating as authors, artists, or both; and b.) if a pinch-hit comes to you exceptionally late.
You are allowed to decline a pinch-hit offer; signing up does not obligate you to write for whatever we happen to throw at you.

Since there were a pretty manageable number of prompts, we'd like you to just use prompt numbers in the form, instead of pairing preferences and such. This should help us be more efficient when contacting pinch-hitters. If you need to refresh your memory, visit the claims post. Please note that all prompts can be listed in your answers, as we have no way of knowing which ones might again become available.
