CTME: World-Class D&B Training Comes to The Cube

There's a saying in this industry that the best systems in the world are only as good as the people operating them.

At CTME, we’ve always believed in putting principles into action, and that’s exactly what we’re doing now by making the most of this period of regional downtime. While the situation in the Middle East remains unclear, our timeline is set, and we are moving forward with our pre-scheduled training for our teams.

As the pace of the industry ebbs and flows, we’ve made a conscious decision to use this time wisely. Instead of standing still, we are intensifying our focus on what is most important: our people. That means rolling world-class technical training directly to our warehouse, more precisely, into the Cube.

Over two intensive days, our team immersed themselves in a D&B Audiotechnik training program that I genuinely believe will elevate the level of system work we deliver to our clients for years to come.

Day 1: Back to Basics — No Frills. Just Fundamentals.

The fundamentals never go out of fashion, and there’s enormous value in revisiting the science of sound with fresh eyes and a structured approach, as such, day one was dedicated entirely to electroacoustics. The team revisited the physics, the principles, and the behavior of audio in real-world environments. Getting that foundation absolutely solid is what separates good system engineers from great ones, and our team is trained from the ground up.

Day 2: The d&b Workflow — From Drawing Board to Deployment

If day one was about understanding sound, day two was about mastering the tools that shape it.

The focus here was d&b’s two flagship software platforms: ArrayCalc and R1. ArrayCalc is a powerful simulation and planning tool that allows our engineers to draw a venue, model the acoustic environment, and design the optimal system for that specific space before a single piece of equipment leaves the warehouse. R1, meanwhile, gives complete network control of the system through d&b’s amplifier infrastructure through real-time management.

The key takeaway from the day was understanding the complete d&b workflow end-to-end, from the moment you enter room data and start running simulations, all the way through to deployment on site and generating an intuitive user interface that allows system control with precision and confidence. That joined-up thinking, from planning software through to live operation, is precisely the kind of workflow mastery that makes the difference on complex shows.

Tim Cook, CTME’s head of audio, commented, “The training was a wonderful refresher for us at CT, reinforcing the fundamentals we already use on a day-to-day basis. It has helped sharpen our understanding of the system and brought us in sync with its best practices. It was a pleasure hosting D&B, and we look forward to more training in the near future.”

Why This Matters

d&b Audiotechnik’s workshop speaks to a philosophy we hold firmly at CTME: investing in our team is our number one priority. Every simulation our engineers run more confidently, every system they deploy more efficiently, and every problem they solve before it ever reaches the site—that’s the key ROI, and our clients feel it.
