Where languages uncover a world full of professional opportunities, meaningful connections, & personal growth.
The Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures (CSLC) supports language learners at the University of Notre Dame by facilitating meaningful experiences with human language. Our programs and services use languages as the means to develop global citizenship, experience new ways of knowing humanity, and build connections across cultures and perspectives.
We believe in learning languages to intentionally deepen our understandings of culture, profoundly prepare for an ever-globalized world, and confidently develop our senses of self.
We provide opportunities, remove barriers, and offer support services for ND language learners so that they have purposeful and positive interactions in languages other than their mother tongues.
We acknowledge our presence in the traditional homelands of Native peoples including the Haudenosauneega, Miami, Peoria, all of the Bodéwadkmik / Potawatomi peoples, and particularly the Pokégnek Bodéwadmik / Pokagon Potawatomi, who have been using this land for education for thousands of years and continue to do so.
Our operating hours may vary throughout the academic year to accommodate for major events, holidays, and breaks.
