By using advanced technologies, we transform agricultural raw materials into functional ingredients for food, pet food, feed and industrial solutions that perform reliably in customers’ processes. We process a range of plant-based raw materials, with wheat accounting for the largest share.

Refinement technologies

Crespel & Deiters refinement expertise transforming agricultural raw materials into functional ingredients for food, pet food, feed, and industrial applications, using integrated processing at the Ibbenbüren site to separate wheat into defined starch, protein, fiber, and extract fractions and further refine them through modification, blending, and hydrolysis for reliable performance in customer processes.

From raw materials to functional solutions

At our Ibbenbüren site in German, wheat flour is mixed with water to create a dough which is then separated into its components using physical processes such as sieving, centrifugation and evaporation.

The result: clearly defined fractions of starches, proteins, fibers and extracts. These fractions are further refined through technologies including modification, blending, extrusion and hydrolysis, depending on the intended application.

Nature. Refined. Since 1858.

By managing the entire process from raw material to finished product, we tailor functionality to meet exact production conditions. This ensures reliable performance, minimizes the need for adjustments and delivers consistent quality while optimizing resource use, helping to achieve greater efficiency.

All technologies are closely connected with our R&D. Products are developed with a clear focus on real production conditions, and technologies are combined to match specific requirements. From initial trials to scale-up, concepts are turned into robust, production-ready solutions

Extrusion

Creating targeted properties

Extrusion is one of our core technologies for producing flour- and protein-based ingredients.

At our innovation center in Helmond, we design solutions for plant-based foods, snacks, active nutrition, pet food and feed. By precisely controlling process parameters, we tailor textures, structure and functionality to meet specific application requirements, ensuring reliable scale-up under industrial conditions.

Starch Modification

Fine-tuning starch performance

With advanced modification technologies, we define the exact behavior of starch-based products.

Through finely adjusted physical and chemical treatments, we enhance starches for food and industrial solutions. We fine-tune key properties such as viscosity, stability, water binding and film formation, ensuring reliable performance under heat, shear and challenging process conditions.

Blending

Ready-to-use adhesives for reliable production

We streamline procurement and handling by providing ready-to-use systems, eliminating the need for individual components.

Many applications require a combination of functional ingredients. Using advanced blending technologies, we bring together starches and selected chemicals into comprehensive systems. These ready-to-use adhesives are designed to perform reliably on industrial lines, reduce handling complexity and can be tailored to specific processes or regional needs.

Crespel & Deiters hydrolysis expertise fine-tuning plant protein functionality through controlled enzymatic processes, precisely adjusting solubility, viscosity, emulsification, gel behavior, and stability to deliver reproducible, application-specific performance for diverse food and industrial product concepts.

Protein Hydrolysis

Unlocking the full potential of proteins

Hydrolyzed proteins are essential in food, pet food, and feed where process stability and specific textural or sensory properties are crucial.

Through controlled hydrolysis, we break down proteins into smaller fractions, unlocking new functional properties such as solubility, foaming, and emulsifying behavior. By fine-tuning process parameters, we strike the perfect balance between functionality and taste.
