Meet our new host, Roby McEuen!

He’s been a well-known figure in Fort Worth’s creative community for many years. Roby has taught design and advertising since 1988 and is currently an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at Arlington. On top of that, he’s successfully run his award-winning creative firm, Robeegraffix Advertising Design, for decades. Roby’s experience and energy make him the perfect fit for CreativeMornings/Fort Worth. Let’s give him a big welcome!

March is PARALLEL

Fate exerts a powerful pull on our lives. As Greg Davis knows, it can drag you through the mud before it shows you the light at the end of the tunnel. For Greg, fate is his quest for meaning, his desire to connect his experiences with those of people worlds apart, to exhibit that we are all part of something greater than ourselves. Often times, it is our PARALLEL journeys of mud and light that just-so-happen to intersect when the timing is perfect.

Greg Davis is a published and contributing photographer for National Geographic/Disney and was represented by the National Geographic Image Collection for over a decade. Over two hundred of his works can still be found in the archives at National Geographic. Greg’s work was recently published in National Geographic photo books, “America the Beautiful“, “Destinations of a Lifetime” and “Women: The National Geographic Image Collection”, which also has a worldwide traveling exhibition, “Women:  A Century of Change“, that features some of his work. In 2017 he was honored as the Ambassador of the Year for Austin based non-profit, Well Aware, the first time they had ever awarded this recognition.  Well Aware funds and implements sustainable clean water systems that drive development and empower communities in East Africa. Greg worked his way from local festivals to international exhibitions and his work now hangs in private and institutional collections worldwide.  The Wittliff Collection, The Raymond James Collection and The Grace Museum are just a few of the spaces that house Greg Davis’ collectible works.

Come join us at Cielo Place on Race Street Friday, March 28th, to hear Greg’s stories of his amazing journey.

JANUARY IS JOURNEY

As an internationally shown artist and founder of Arté Tea Company, CHOKE is committed to community-building through her promotion of healthy living, mindfulness practices, and the facilitation of meditation and wellness classes for those seeking to connect with their inner selves. She is deeply involved in outreach programs for underserved communities and is a co-founder of the Mind Body Ecology Institute, which promotes these teachings in connection to nature. She has been on an extraordinary JOURNEY. Please come and hear her tell her story. (arte.tea.co)

We will be meeting in the Carriage House at League Realty — which is the lovely building behind the fence on the right of the property.

December is CYCLE

Our world runs on cycles. There’s the frantic buzz of the 24-hour news cycle. The boom and bust of economic cycles. The changing seasons. Every plant, animal, and organism exists in a life cycle of birth, growth, reproduction, and death. And yes, the process of brewing beer has its own, unique life cycle, especially when you’re carving out market share and expanding distribution.

Come hear Ryan McWhorter, Founder, and Johnnye Dee Soles, Events and Marketing Director, share their stories about what it takes to reach their 10-year anniversary in the microbrewery world. And who doesn’t appreciate the smell of hops first thing in the morning?

Cheers to Cycle!

Seth Bodine, writer for the Fort Worth Report, named Megan Henderson the caretaker of Near Southside’s counterculture vibe. We concur. She is a tireless advocate for all that makes Fort Worth’s Southside a vibrant, loving, eclectic community in all respects. It takes engaged neighbors, businesses and city leaders to do such a thing. The Near Southside has been put forth as an example and has been visited by other urban centers across American to try to understand what exactly is going on here. Maybe it’s the common THREAD.

Come hear Megan speak about her journey that has catapulted a kid from Cleburne into the middle of one of the most fast-growing, authentic and unexpected districts in Fort Worth.

VISION | DOUG RENFRO, Renfro Food, Inc.

How spicy do you like your CreativeMornings? Well then, then this month’s speaker is for you. Doug Renfro, President of Renfro Foods, Inc., will talk about the VISION and foresight it takes to move his third generation family business forward in the highly competitive landscape of wholesale, white label and retail food manufacturing.

As president of Renfro Foods, Inc., Doug works closely with his cousins Becky and James to run the company. In particular, Doug focuses on R&D, private label and contract packing, quality assurance, sales and marketing, legal, IT, and a dozen other areas (hey, it’s a small family business). He has personally developed many of the Mrs. Renfro’s flavors, including Mango Habanero and Craft Beer. With intelligence, fortitude and humor, Doug took over the lead role from his uncle Bill as President, serving alongside his cousins Becky Renfro Borbolla, Senior Vice President and James Renfro, Senior Vice President. Together, they have nurtured the family business — where they all grew up — to carry on the legacy of what George and Arthurine Renfro started in 1940. Incidentally, she hated her first name. She preferred to be called Mrs. Renfro.

Please join us in The Villa at Joe T. Garcia’s. Righteous Foods, the creation of Lanny Lancarte, will be providing our breakfast, coffee and refreshments. Everyone is Creative. Everyone is Welcome.

September is REFLECTION

Without reflection, there truly can be no positive growth. This is true for individuals and communities alike. With this in mind, we are excited to feature the “unofficial” historian of Fort Worth, Quentin McGown! As a sixth-generation Texan, prominent Fort Worth attorney, and author of three books about Fort Worth, Quentin is a passionate expert on virtually every aspect of our city. What are the five most creative moments in Fort Worth’s history? Find out at our September CreativeMornings! Curious minds are encouraged to bring whatever questions you’ve always wanted to ask about Panther City. Please join us for this fascinating speaker!
