The Princess and the Pea

The Princess and the Pea is a lovely story about a prince who was looking for a true princess so he would put a pea under 20 mattresses and if she could feel the pea she was a “true princess”

Now as I wondered the streets of my city, thinking of this story for no real reason. It just popped into my head one day. I wondered…what if the mattresses weren’t the regular ones that most people have, the spring box ones that can be uncomfortable if the springs are breaking. I was thinking…what if she was on 20 memory foam mattresses. Would she STILL feel the pea then? Would ANYONE be able to? I mean theoretically in reality no one could feel a pea under 20 mattresses no matter what, but seeing as this is a fairy tale, I began to wonder.

To me, this is quite the quagmire…a weird quagmire but a quagmire nonetheless. Taken everything into account I doubt she’d be able to feel the pea…I mean have you lain on those things? You could be on a rocky surface and not even know. It’s just so damn comfortable. Oh wouldn’t I love to get myself a memory foam mattress…it’d be amazing. They’re so expensive though, it’s impossible for me, a nearly 17-year-old teenager to afford one.

Ah well. Hopefully the princess can to, she definitely needs her beauty sleep. ;)

PS: Er for icon...oh the one that says "cannon" on it. I do relize i spelt it wrong. I actually have one spelt correctly. But well...i just forgot to upload it. Thanks for the point out (the "cannon" was for a friend who thought it was adorable i added an extra n to it"

EDIT: Alrighty there. Right file uploaded it. And right other misspelt file to the friend. (my friend is really retarded...so please do not ask why she wants a misspelled icon)

Tutorial #1

Helllo folks! Today we are going from:

Lets begin shall we? We take our image and crop it 100x100 just to our liking.

Step 2. What i do next is i used the curves tool (Image > Adjustments > Curves) What i do is i actually just adjust the colors to give it it more of a brigter or lighter feel to the icon:

Step 3. I duplicate this layer and set it to "Soft Light"

Step 4. I then create a new layer and fill it with a dark blue (#070B31) and set to "Exclusion"

Step 5. I create another new layer and fill with a tan type color (#F0E4AB) Then set to either Color Burn OR Multiply. Depends on the image, for me i used Color Burn.

Step 6. I created once again a new blank layer and filled it with a washed out blue color (#A2BBCC) then set to Multiply

Step 7. I duplicated the base layer and set that to Soft Light since well...the icon looks wayyy to washed out for my taste.

Step 8. For an added effect i duplicated the base layer once again i then desaturated it (control + shift + U) and then set that to soft light.

Step 9. I used this texture: (by: fightstarr) then set it to screen and move it under the top two current layers (which should be the base layers that are set to soft light)

Step 10. I make a selection some where on the image near the edge and use the rectangular marquee to select a small bar and go to Edit > Fill and fill it with black to get this:

Step 11. I make another selection on one of the sides of this bar (if you don't get it heres an example: )

Step 12. I carefully go to each layer (keeping the selection) then desaturation each layer except for the texture layer to get an intrestin effect.

Step 13. I finally create a new layer and select the whole image (control + A) and go to Edit > Stroke and make a nice fine 1 px black border.

If you don't like it all plain feel free to add text, brushes ect. This is your icon, not mine ^^

Another ten for you all! Most of them as usual are GoF and PoA takes. Er the top are the newest ones i made with a few tips i got, while the lower one downs were personally not as good, the Mrs. Norris one i will be probably making a simular one later but slightly nicer font and more design to it.
