I couldn't sleep, so I thought I would check in on Lj. Post some pics and a short summary of my recent vacation... So I grab my iPad and access LJ, start my post, three paragraphs, not long, but just enough. Then I decide that I'll add pics of my vacation. BIG MISTAKE!
FIrst I clicked the "camera" icon... in error. I cancelled and got back to my post. All is well. Then I clicked the "picture" icon and I was asked to allow LJ to access my photos, I clicked "OK". And....... POOF! I'm suddenly logged out of LJ altogether! No worries, I figure when I re-open and click on post to your journal, I'll get the usual "Restore your previous draft?" like we used to get when a post was started and never actually posted. Nope! Nada... nothing... it's gone. *grrrrrrrr*

AND THIS WHY I STOPPED POSTING REGULARLY ON LJ... every time I was accessing LJ from my iPad, which is more convenient when sitting on the couch at night, all sorts of issues would happen and I simply gave up. Lj used to be a means of escape, of enjoyment in sharing with online friends moments of our day, our lives, etc. but it became FRUSTRATION every time I tried to access. Constant changes to the system, often without warning, improper functionality with various devices... etc etc etc Is it any wonder LJ had become a ghost town?

Morning has arrived and my available time has come to an end... so I'll try again later.

My very first day of vacay (yesterday) and I couldn't even enjoy a little fic reading b/c I COULDN'T FIND IT!
And WHERE the fuck is the POST button? All I see is "ADD" and it tells me I've got the wrong metadata shite....
I had hoped to bring my iPad on vacay with me to do a little reading and catching up on LJ.
Why can't some things remain constant... not all, but some????

Fancy Riding your Bike Naked?

Its the World Naked Bike Ride this weekend and Montrealers are happy to join in...

It's an awareness campaign to sensitize motorists to cyclists on the road. What better way to show how vulnerable they are than by riding NAKED!apparently, it's very "freeing"...

I can't imagine the state of those bike seats after the ride... *g*

Thanks to my wonderful loving friend Alex, a.k.a. splix, I had the bestest weekend in a lonnnnnnnng time!

Having not been able to visit with her for some time due to that nasty contre-temps, I jumped at the chance of attending ConStrict with her in Vegas when she invited me earlier this year. And I'm so glad I accepted her invitation despite my initial trepidation about not fitting in.

I was pleased as pie to see Als again (looking all MAHVELOUS and glam), so thank you sweet dear friend...

I had such a good time, got to hang out with lauramcewan whom I hadn't seen since 2005 (OMG!), met some great gals (big wave to master_chatnoir, katbear, gloriana, the_emu, sian1359, darththalia, barbana - my brain can't retain all of them), attended some really good panels on multiple fandoms and subjects, learned some new skills (origami of all things, which like texting, is a challenge with my manly fingers)... all in all, a very enjoyable experience.

I must remember to write Ewan to thank him for introducing me to LJ so many years ago... the great gals I have met thanks to him is just incredible.

I literally had to check the date on my last post in order to tell where to start!!!!!

April 9th was my last post. And sadly, I never made it to see Draft Day. It didn't stick around very long, so I guess it was another bomb (Tom seems to have an affinity to pick 'em), but with my crazy ass work schedule, it's no surprise I missed it.

April 7th - 2 days prior - marked a big turnaround for our Belle Province... the Separatists were voted OUT in a big way. Thank the Almighty for that, or should I thank my fellow electors who finally saw the error of their ways back in 2012. My phone literally stopped its incessant ringing the day after they'd got in. So now, since April, it's been a free for all. The freaking market is saturated with listings, Vendors are at the mercy of Buyers, and the latter are taking their sweet time! Result? I'm still going around in circles, but once in a while a deal is struck. I spent all of 2013 doing the same but to no avail. At leat this year, I'm getting some reward for my efforts.

Big news on the family front: eldest son proposed to his girl and she accepted! Looks like I will have a DIL by July 18th 2015.
Not only that, they decided they want to build their own house, instead of buying a resale. They've put a deposit on a piece of land and hope to have a house by Christmas this year. It's going to be rock n' roll until then.

Youngest is still trying to land his first helicopter job. He's come to terms that he'll have to do ANYTHING to get in the door, which is really a major step forward in his quest. Now if he can only get hired.

On the fandom side of things, I haven't read fic in I don't know how long... I've been slack on the PG. I managed to read only 1 book this year. How sad is that. I'm addicted to GOT (2 yrs after everyone else, but I'm all caught up) and OITNB is my favorite new show! I'd started when I caught some eps on YouTube, but soon the links were taken down. I hadn't seen an ep since last year, but a recent subscription to Netflix reacquainted me with the series. I'm up to date already. Great show. Love it. Also hooked on The Blacklist, because it is impossible NOT to love any show in which James Spader plays a role (ref Boston Legal) am I right?

I think I'll stop here, because I'm getting depressed at recounting my lacklustre life. Too much work makes Rose a dull gal. I've got to turn that around.

In a bold move, I declared that I was no longer working on Mondays. Go me!

Consequences? I now have to cram 7 full days of real estate work into 6 and the 1 day I have off, I spend cleaning up specific areas of the house that are way overdue. Brilliant.

Result? I'm beat at the end of my long days... and likewise on my long day off. :(

There is no winning here.

Monday Monday…

So far, so good… 2nd Monday in a row that I actually manage to RESIST real estate work. Go me, I now only work 6 days a week.

So instead, I did laundry, then sorted my files to close my books for income tax season. That took forever.
Cleaned out some other files in my office space, taking me one step closer to an 'organized' look.
Cleaned out the fridge of 'dead leftovers'. Cooked dinner.

Man, what fun I had. :D At least it was unstressful, and I didn't have to wear any make-up, nor dress up (jeans, tee & hoody for me), and now I'm sitting on the couch watching Sid & his Pens "sleepskating" through a game. He better get off his arspedistrous in Sochi… that's all I'm sayin.

Can't wait for next Monday! ;)

Yeah… I forgive him anything. :)

I had my knee injection (cortisone) yesterday afternoon and boy, was it SORE last night!!!

But today, it's been quite manageable and I'm thrilled that I booked the WHOLE DAY OFF!! :)
Sitting on the couch with my laptop and doing just the amount of work I feel like…. is nothing short of great.
And it's a Friday to boot! oh and did I mention, a cool -30C (ie. fucking cold). So I am quite content sitting here in the warm.

Allow me to decorate this post with a warm n cuddly...

Which reminds me, I had meant to catch August: Osage County last weekend but ended up working too late. This week, I have no excuse, save for this cold weather. Nothing, not even my muses, will make me go out on this cold night.

And in my pursuit of a more balanced life, I have decided to expand my 'time off' from work from Friday nights only, to Friday nights and ALL of Monday. Big step. Of course, I still will have to prepare my ads on Monday mornings but if I can get my act together, I can have these done on Sunday (if not too busy) and be free on Monday. Wish me luck!

Today was my last physio therapy for my duff knee. On Thursday, I am getting a cortisone injection. I hope this does the trick. My knee is a lot less swollen than it used to be and I can get by quite merrily with my brace, but it would be nice to go around with no pain at all and no brace. Not sure this cortisone will do it, but some say it will. We'll see. In the meantime, I am getting a little anxious about this injection… I hate needles and I have a tendency to faint right afterwards. Wish me luck!

We've entered yet another deep freeze… goddamned Polar Vortex! Go away!!! I want heat. It's wickedly cold. There's solid ice INSIDE our window panes!

Finally made it to the mailbox... It's a balmy -20 odd here, so you'll forgive me if I don't venture out every day to go get the mail...

However, my trip was rewarded today. A whole bunch of Christmas cards were piled in there, among them one from char_usa and one from ewris, a very pleasant surprise. THANK YOU both.

And this is only the beginning of winter!

Did I mention? I lost 21 lbs since last May. I'm pretty happy with myself. Still hope to shed another 20 or so.
No specific diet, just eating more regularly (every 3-4hrs) and smaller portions. And I exercise, which is key.

It's the first time I see this group One Direction, they're on SNL right now. How old are these kids? Have they even finished high school? Their shoes look too big for them. Much like when I used to dress up with my Mom's clothes and shoes as a kid. :))) Nice vocals though.

I'm getting a cortisone shot in the knee next month. I've also been wearing a knee brace since September which is going to be part of my wardrobe for a full year. I'm looking forward to a pain-free experience soon! I've been going to the chiropractor and physiotherapist for over a year now… about time something works. The swelling is a lot less I have to say, so I'm on the right road.

2013 has been a strange year…
Lots of angst among family and friends, yet some good too.
A crap year in real estate, yet one which has kept me busy right to the end.

This is the first year that I feel I didn't get everything done or ready on time for Christmas. On all levels: shopping for gifts (some I couldn't find, others I never had time to), sending cards out (I missed some ppl), entertaining family (I actually forgot some dishes I had planned), just getting around to posting here! Not even a Christmas post!!!

I did however manage to hop over the pond one weekend to go pick up my MIL and bring her back home to spend the Holidays with us. I also managed to attend 3 different office parties, 1 going-away party all in the same week, before Christmas. I don't feel very accomplished and I just hate falling short.

So for next year, I am already intent on making a resolution to achieve a better work-life balance. I can't forever be running around and never feeling that I have any time to do what I want. I'm growing tired of asking or wishing for more time!!! I'll just try to better manage the time I've got - which will mean letting go of my perfectionnistic (is that even a word?) tendencies. Like the hubster says: 80-20 is good enough. God help me there.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas among loved ones and that you enjoy good health and plenty of happiness in the New Year!
