I focused entirely on serving my 1:1 and group coaching clients, and along the way, I created a wealth of online training content that was exclusive to my private coaching clients.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, I was hearing from a lot of coaches who really wanted to work with me but who at that point couldn&#x2019;t make the financial commitment. In response to that feedback, I revamped and repackaged my online training content and turned it into a self-paced online course.<\/p>\n<p>This dramatically expanded the number of coaches and consultants who were able to implement my system for generating qualified leads.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_did_you_decide_to_create_an_online_course_in_the_first_place\"><\/span>Why did you decide to create an online course in the first place?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I originally had no interest in <a href=\"https:\/\/coursemethod.com\/create-online-course\">creating an online course<\/a>, but when I was hearing from prospects who needed my process but who couldn&#x2019;t afford to work with me 1:1, I realized that I had to respond to market demand and create a more cost-effective option to help my clients get results.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Did_you_have_any_moments_of_doubt_before_you_createdlaunched_it\"><\/span>Did you have any moments of doubt before you created\/launched it?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One of the great things about my journey in creating this online course was that by the time I decided to create an online course, I had already created the majority of the content working with my coaching clients.<\/p>\n<p>Because I took the approach I did, I had several key things out of the way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Validation: <\/strong>Because I created this content for my private clients as they needed it, and the course was geared towards a similar target audience, I knew that I was creating something they needed and wanted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confidence: <\/strong>Because I had been working with private coaching clients prior to creating the course, I knew that what I was teaching was something that gets my clients results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What%E2%80%99s_your_online_course_like\"><\/span>What&#8217;s your online course like?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The course is primarily video content, and the videos in it vary in format. That&#x2019;s largely because at that time I thought I was just creating training content for my coaching clients&#x2013;&#x2013;not creating an online course.<\/p>\n<p>Once I made the decision to create this course, though, the course was live within two months. Here&#x2019;s what those two months looked like:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I took inventory of all the <a href=\"https:\/\/coursemethod.com\/creating-a-training-video.html\">training content I had already created<\/a> and identified which lessons were good to go and which ones needed to be redone. From there, I mapped out the 12-week flow of the course, identifying the sequence of the lessons and modules.<\/li>\n<li>I created the course content&#x2013;&#x2013;those lessons that needed to be redone and the new lessons I needed to create.<\/li>\n<li>Then, I designed the sales assets for the course, including the funnel, landing pages, email sequences, and everything else that I needed to <em>sell<\/em> the course.<\/li>\n<li>I built the course itself in <a class=\"thirstylink\" rel=\"sponsored\" title=\"Kajabi Homepage\" href=\"https:\/\/coursemethod.com\/go\/kajabi-homepage\" data-shortcode=\"true\">Kajabi<\/a>, adding the videos, action items, worksheets, templates, and resources.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tell_us_a_little_about_the_process_of_launching_your_course_and_getting_your_first_sales\"><\/span>Tell us a little about the process of launching your course and getting your first sale(s).<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I first launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/coursemethod.com\/online-course-email-sequence-increase-value.html\">course to my email list using a 5-day email sequence<\/a>, and at the same time running an organic social media campaign using Facebook and Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>My first sales came from those efforts, but the majority of my sales have come since then. My initial launch was not lucrative or wildly successful. Rather, where my course has been most successful is in the time since launch.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Do_you_have_a_lead_magnet\"><\/span>Do you have a lead magnet?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>I have a free online training (20 minutes) that I use as a <a href=\"https:\/\/coursemethod.com\/?p=22335\">lead magnet<\/a>. A course is also a popular option when my sales team is talking with prospective clients who, for a variety of reasons, may not yet be an ideal fit for a private coaching relationship with me.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What%E2%80%99s_the_traffic_strategy_that_works_best_for_you\"><\/span>What&#8217;s the traffic strategy that works best for you?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The best traffic strategy for me has been getting in front of other people&#x2019;s audiences by getting on podcasts. Here are a few lessons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You don&#x2019;t have to create your course content before selling your course. Just create the first week or two&#x2019;s worth so you can focus on generating revenue. No one wants to do work they&#x2019;re not getting paid for.<\/li>\n<li>During the course creation process, spend plenty of time upfront on project planning. Ensuring that you do things in the right order will save you <em>so<\/em> much time in going back and fixing things.<\/li>\n<li>Your course content doesn&#x2019;t have to be professionally produced and flawless.
