A cautionary tale

A friend of mine is moving to Texas soon. If I was single and in a new town I know I would want to get out there and meet a local “friend”.

I am going to send her vid as a cautionary tale of the dangers of going home with a man you just met in a bar. Don’t do this. I ~~have never done this~~ won’t be doing this myself after seeing this. Since most men in bars are not CKR the payoff is not high enough to risk becoming a hair trophy.

Callum's character "John Neil", the trucker, is briefly seen at the the police station for about 10 seconds. He goes unnoticed by Alan Rickman's character. This scene is at about 16 minutes into the movie.

The biggest scene he is in is the confrontation that occurs when he tries to apologize to Linda for killing her daughter. He is prevented from speaking to her by Alex.

Screencaps from Snow Cake - Part 1 the accident

Callum is in 4 scenes in this movie for a total of less than 5 minutes. These screencaps are from the first scene, the scene of the accident. The part where Callum gets out of the truck and tries to help takes place 13 minutes into the movie and lasts for 1 minute. It is hard to get captures of because there is a lot of flailing around and too much motion blur. This is my first time taking screen caps. If anyone reads this and can suggest better tools than just VLC media player and Greenshot please. Virtualdub maybe?

This one should be really good. Hope to start watching this weekend. Still no "Picture Claire" in my mailbox. Amazon lists next Friday as the last expected delivery date so not time to open a case yet.

He is second billed on Lucid so there should be a good bit of screen time!

UPDATE: My attempt to burn Callum's image into my brain is working, well at least the image of his shirts. When I woke up this morning I realized I was dreaming about two men wearing Leoben like shirts. I couldn't see their faces and they were oddly joined Siamese twin style, sharing one arm. Still, progress is progress!

I just received my copy of "Unnatural and Accidental". This one is supposed to be very dark and dreary though so I don't think I want to watch it right away. I will be queuing up "Falling Angels" and "Flower and Garnet" first. I hope that "Picture Claire", "Suspicious River" or "Men with Guns" arrives next. "Picture Claire" and "Suspicious River" are shipping from the states but they should be here any day now.

This will basically be a Callum Keith Rennie fangirl journal. I was inspired by the amazing the_ckr_files to create an account here. I just can't keep my enthusiasm about CKR, the man and his work, (his looks!) to myself.

About me:
I am a private person who has almost never written publicly on the net so not much here.

About my Callum obsession:
I have been a fan since 1994's Double Happiness and have thought about looking up more of his work since the BSG days. However, I recently re-watched BSG all the way through and oh, my did Callum take a hold of my mind. For the last two weeks I can't keep my mind calm unless I am watching his work and his gorgeous face. I have a pile of stuff ordered that I will be writing about in the next posts.
