NGCB state court to hold Kalshi in contempt
Nevada (prediction/litigation) - Buck Wargo, CDC Gaming - Arguing Kalshi is taking hundreds of millions of dollars in wagers on the World Cup and the NBA and Stanley Cup finals, the Nevada Gaming Control Board Friday asked a district court to hold the prediction market operator in contempt, arguing it hasn’t complied with a May 18 judicial order against offering sports betting in the state. Filed with the First Judicial District Court for the State of Nevada, the filing accuses Kalshi of not geofencing its operations as required, so that “it does not offer or facilitate the offering of any sports-, election-, or entertainment-related event contracts” to anyone located in Nevada.

Coalition sues to block state’s new 14.25% prediction markets tax
Kentucky (prediction/litigation) - Associated Press - A coalition that includes Kalshi, Crypto.com and Polymarket filed a lawsuit Friday challenging Kentucky’s first-in-the-nation excise tax on prediction markets. The Kentucky General Assembly in April enacted a 14.25% tax on prediction market operators’ transaction fees, a levy the lawsuit says is discriminatory, unconstitutional and preempted by federal law. The new tax is higher than for Kentucky’s “favored incumbent industry,” the lawsuit filed in state court by the Coalition for Fair Markets says, noting a 9.75% tax on wagers at horse tracks.

Overnight visitors accounted for 909,590 arrivals in May, down 11.8-percent year-on-year. Morgan, reflecting a modest estimate of US$1.5 billion in annualized EBITDA and over US$600 million in free cash flow. The US$10 billion MGM Osaka could also be worth US$19 per share today on a discounted basis, although the fact that opening is still four years away – beyond many investors’ time horizons – means the stock is unlikely to fully reflect its value anytime soon.

GGR run-rate down 20% due to World Cup kick-off
Asia (Macau) - Ben Blaschke, Inside Asian Gaming - Macau’s gross gaming revenue is estimated to have reached MOP$9.0 billion in the first 14 days of June, down 20% on the daily run-rate through May and 16% lower than the run-rate in the first week of June, according to Citi. In a Monday note, analysts George Choi and Timothy Chau said the lower daily run-rate of MOP$586 million (US$72.6 million) was likely due to the commencement of football’s World Cup swallowing some Macau players’ betting budgets.
