Women Against the Bomb is the inspirational story of the first all-female peace camp of Greenham Common, told from the inside by the women who were there. The protest camp began in England in 1981 to block the installation of nuclear weapons on European soil, marking the dawn of a global ecofeminist movement.
The film unfolds in four chronological chapters, from the original march and occupation, direct actions and police violence, to the international media frenzy, the successful ratification of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty in 1987 and the camp's closure in 2000.
Through the voices of the original Greeenham women themselves, rich archive material and song, the film recounts the remarkable story of their movement, whose message has become a symbol of women's resistance to patriarchy and their struggle to protect the planet. Soon thousands of women from all walks of life joined the cause, challenging the state and the military, and inspiring hundred of thousands of women throughout the world to follow their lead.
