Essential documentary films for higher education
Navalny
98 min. | Closed Captioned
A film by Daniel Roher
★★★★☆ "Highly recommended for Russian-centered and Eastern Europe-oriented programming. Current-affairs-oriented courses, human-rights and political-science curricula should also take an interest. The bilingual nature of the film makes it also an interesting possibility for Russian-language lessons."
Video Librarian, Charles Cassady
Winner of the 2023 Academy Award® for Best Feature Documentary, Navalny follows Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, through his political rise, attempted assassination, and search to uncover the truth. Navalny is streaming exclusively on Docuseek for education.

In the wake of his August 2020 Novichok poisoning, Navalny aggressively works to uncover who was behind his assassination attempt in this gripping documentary thriller. Through his years-long campaign against corruption among Russia’s elites, Navalny has developed powerful enemies. His publicized revelations, and calls for democratic reforms, have enraged Vladimir Putin, who refuses to even say his name in public. Despite denials from the Russian government, the poison was later linked to the Kremlin through investigations by international news organizations, including Bellingcat, the data investigative journalism outlet, and CNN.
In addition to the Academy Award® for Best Documentary Feature, Navalny, from GOOD DOCS, received the Festival Favorite Award and Audience Award, US Documentary from the Sundance Film Festival, a BAFTA Documentary Award, and a Critics Choice Award for Best Political Documentary.

Licensing options are one-year, three-year and Life of File for Navalny, and one-year and three-year for the The GOOD DOCS Complete Collection. Contact us at sales@docuseek2.com for quotes, more information or questions.
