WE4F Launches Solar Powered Irrigation Systems App
WE4F has launched a smartphone app for the SPIS. The new app supports the design, budgeting and installation of solar-powered irrigation systems on the go. The new smartphone app supports users as they plan and optimize the use of solar pumps while helping to address groundwater overuse risks. To have a seamless experience even in the field, users can also save data in the app and access it without an internet connection. The app supports advisors and farmers in quickly accessing comprehensive information and supporting tools in a mobile, accessible, and user-friendly way.

PhD Fellowships on Agriculture and Genetic Engineering
The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology and the Genetic Engineering and Society (GES) Center at NC State are now recruiting Ph.D. students for our third and final cohort of students for the graduate training program in Agricultural Biotechnology in our evolving Food, Energy, and Water Systems (AgBioFEWS). This interdisciplinary, NSF-funded program is focused on biological and societal aspects of biotech/synbio in agriculture. Applicants working on microbiology are especially encouraged to apply. The application deadline is 2/1/21.

Office of Global Partnerships: COVID-19 Private Sector Engagement & Partnership Fund
The Department of State and USAID have launched the COVID-19 Private Sector Engagement & Partnership Fund with an additional $10 million in new assistance funds. The Fund has been established to strengthen the efforts of the private sector and bolster ongoing response efforts, helping the world's most vulnerable overcome the devastation inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Concept papers will be accepted beginning August 5, 2020 and be reviewed on a rolling basis through 11:59PM Eastern Time on May 30, 2021. Please note that projects will be funded on a rolling basis. The Department reserves the right to close this announcement sooner than the given date if the available amount of funding has been exhausted.

This course by EdinburghX examines food security from a food systems perspective and illustrates the major global challenges present, from the environmental impact of food production to the public health impacts of current and future diets. We also look at where food systems and non-food policies interact, such as climate change and biodiversity conservation.
