WE4F West Africa Regional Innovation Hub Announces the Ivorian Call for Innovations
Only a couple days remain to apply for the Ivory Coast Call for Innovation! The West Africa RIH is seeking innovative companies, and more specifically small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are involved in the food value chain (e.g., agricultural production, conservation, processing, transport and distribution). SMEs wishing to participate in the competition should write to CI_inquiry@giz.de to receive the submission form and submit to the same address by end of July 15th, 2021 Abidjan time.

Despite excellent production conditions, Ghana imports most of its food, making the country dependent on other nations , threatening its food security stability, and reducing job creation. In addition, imported food is not always of the highest quality, which presents some public health problems that impact the Ghanaian population, perpetuating cycles of poverty in the country through long-term human and socio-economic damage. Global LEAP Awards Launches the Off-Grid Cold Chain Challenge
Modern cold chain technologies are an essential part of the agricultural sector. They manage the temperature of perishable goods from farm to table, maintain quality and safety in the supply chain, reduce food loss and enhance food security in emerging economies. The Efficiency for Access Coalition, through the support of its members DOEN Foundation, IKEA Foundation, the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and Good Energies Foundation, has announced the launch of its second Global LEAP Off-Grid Cold Chain Challenge. The international competition will identify and promote the most energy-efficient, sustainable and cost-effective technologies that can meet the cold storage requirements for fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and dairy products in the first mile markets.

New Opportunity for Early- to Mid-career Level Women Working in Energy Sectors Across Southeast Asia.
With funding from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR), USEA supports the Female Leaders in Energy (FLIE) initiative through the Indo-Pacific Energy Market Investment and Modernization (EMIM) partnership. The FLIE partnership aims to advance the professional development of early- to mid-career level women working in energy sectors across Southeast Asia.
It's a two-year mentorship program with conferences and technical workshops. Applications are due by July 31st.

Solar for All: Enhancing Access to Affordable and Sustainable Solar-powered Irrigation
Achieving the potential of solar irrigation requires improved policies and institutions to coordinate implementation across numerous stakeholders, objectives and approaches. A new WLE-funded study published in Energy Policy – 'Solar for all: A framework for inclusive and environmentally sustainable solar irrigation for smallholder agriculture' – uses cases and observations from the Middle East and North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia to propose a framework to support policy, regulation and implementation for solar irrigation investments that are inclusive and environmentally sustainable.
