Community Wildfire Protection Plan Newsletter

We have some news to share since our last Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) update. We were notified at the start of the year that our application for the County Coordinator grant was approved! This is a one-time grant award from CAL FIRE through the California Fire Safe Council providing $175,000 for eighteen months. We will use this funding to manage coordination and collaboration efforts with all county-wide wildfire mitigation groups. We hope to create a database of wildfire mitigation groups and projects throughout the county. We want to thank the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors for their Letter of Support, along with County Planning, Santa Clara County Fire and the South Santa Clara County Fire District.

We held our second CWPP Advisory Group meeting on January 24th and it was a productive multi-hour workshop. Our next Advisory Group meeting is scheduled for in-person on April 4th and April 5th. Thank you to all our Advisory members for your insight and valued contribution. The FireSafe Council team, Amanda Brenner-Cannon and Tara Wallichs, continue working closely with the CWPP Management Team and CWPP Public Information Officer (PIO) teams on communications, outreach and efforts to keep the CWPP progress on schedule.

We hope you find this Newsletter informative and look forward to sharing more information and progress with you in future Newsletters.

Lexington Basin Community Wildfire Meeting

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2023 AT 5:30PM – 7:30PM

County Fire is hosting a meeting to provide an opportunity for community members in the Lexington Basin area to learn more about the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

Community input will be gathered regarding possible projects to be included in the CWPP that will positively impact wildfire mitigation efforts in the area. This input will assist County Fire in selecting meaningful projects that increase wildfire preparedness, prevention, and protection for residents in these areas.

Please join and spread the word to others in your area.
