Praying for Austria, Switzerland, and Türkiye

Thank you for joining us this week as we at the Baptist World Alliance pray for our global Baptist family and for God's work around the world. If you pray along with us weekly, you will pray for every country in the world in 2026.

Praises and prayer requests listed for each country are provided by local BWA member partners when possible. Statistics provided are reflective of latest data received.

Austria

Praise:

We give thanks for an uptick in interest in church planting, especially for the new church plants in Linz and Vienna. We are also grateful for the way churches are engaging in outreach in creative ways, such as through participation in the "Long Night of the Churches" in May. We are grateful for our ministry with children and young people through summer camps and events throughout the year as well as the deepening commitment to best practices in safeguarding.

Prayer:

We pray for churches who are wrestling with how to move forward in engaging the next generation, asking questions about what their future calling is, and wondering what God has in store for them. We pray that they will hear the guiding of the Spirit. We pray for the first year of ministry for our new General Secretary Pastor David Bunce. Pray that he will be able to develop constructive relationships with all the churches in our Union and help them listen together to the Spirit. Please pray also for our executive board, including our President, Pastor Dietrich Fischer-Dörl.

Attendees of the 2018 BWA Annual Gathering in Zürich gathered in the hillside community of Bäretswil to worship worship inside Täuferhöhle Cave where Baptists facing persecution met in secret in the 1500s.

Praise:

The Swiss Baptists have been serving the Lord together for more than 100 years. Join us in giving thanks for over a century of impactful ministry.

Prayer:

Join us in prayer for Baptist churches and their efforts to further the Gospel and advance the Kingdom.

In the wake of the massive earthquake that struck the area in 2023, Baptists from around the world mobilized to respond.

Praise:

Join us in praising God that there is no war and that believers can gather freely for worship. We also give thanks for Hürrem Carolin Çevik who serves as a BWA United Nations Representative.

Prayer:

May the Lord open the hearts of people to God's Word for there are millions of people who have not heard the Good News across the nation. May God raise faithful leaders in Türkiye to share the Gospel.

Please join us also in prayer for the people of Cyprus and Greece.

Serving with Sisters and Brothers in Honduras

We give thanks for how God is at work through our sisters and brothers in Honduras. BWA General Secretary & CEO Elijah Brown was blessed to serve alongside the National Convention of Baptist Churches in Honduras last week and was honored to visit the site of a BWAid-supported plantain farm that is impacting the lives of 65 local families.

A Prayer for Direction

Christ our God, who at all times and in every hour are worshipped and glorified in heaven and on earth; long-suffering, generous in mercy, and rich in compassion; loving to the righteous and merciful to the sinner; you call all to salvation through the promise of blessings to come:

Lord, in this hour accept our prayers and direct our lives in the way of your commandments. Sanctify our souls, purify our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds, and deliver us from all affliction, evil, and distress. Encompass us with your holy angels, so that guided and guarded by their company we may reach the unity of faith and in the knowledge your unapproachable glory, for you are blessed unto the ages of ages. Amen.
